Capsule, existing in a place where they still end up soundtracking one of the biggest Japanese movies of the year without having to worry about landing on Music Station, can get away with playing around a little bit more. Player, a good album marred by poor pacing, showcases Nakata’s more experimental approach to pop sprinkled across 10 tracks, some of which are among the most pleasurable this project has created.

Two of the best pure pop songs Capsule have ever done bookend Player. Strange, considering both songs serves as tunes in the recently released Liar Game movie in Japan. “Stay With You” opens with skippy keyboards and claps before diving into a well-thought-out fury of dancey electronics and vocals digitized to pure sonic cotton candy. Even better is album closer and advance single “Love Or Lies.” It’s 80′s echoing opening and sliced up vocal sample bring to mind a whole bunch of modern day music trends – “Love Or Lies” is basically a Delorean song, a great one at that, worthy of more blog love – while still retaining the electro-action Capsule is so good at.

01. Stay With You The intro is love. I had already liked the song, so I'm happy there was an album version, though there wasn't much difference from the LIAR'S GAME version, still a good song.

02. Player The song people have mixed feeling for. And no Toshiko isn't in it. I really would have wanted some Toshiko in it. The samples were used well, I don't mind the UK rapping, but it is very repetitive, especially for a 7:30 minute track. But I didn't hate it, no, I liked it. But it could have been so much more with Toshiko's vocals, and a new synth line cut into it for some variety would have made it an exceptional track.

03. I Wish You I love this track, absolutely love it. This track shows off the more mature vibe I was speaking of earlier. It's a softer feel, but if you know me, I very much enjoy softcore songs though this is a bit more edge than what I would usually consider softcore. I can see myself listening to this track early in the hazy morning, where the streets are quite outside and this softer beat is playing within the house.

04. The Music This song is epic! The beginning reminds me of Ami Suzuki w/ Nakata. Then Toshiko comes in and your in love. Then that trance line, gorgeous! This song, all around, is delicious. I can't get enough of it. Yes! The portion of the 'Please don't stop the music' sounds like Rihanna, and I don't know if that was just coincidence, but either way, I liked it when she did it too, and better, it's not overly repetitive. UK rapping again, but I can't hear it much, but that doesn't bother me at all, it's more of a background filler so I don't really fel I'm missing out on it. Fantastic song, I love it. 'Nuff said.

05. Factory This, I'm not to crazy about. I don't like the sample used at all. This will be a track I skip. The music it's self is nice, but the sample is the only vocals, and it kinda ruins the song for me. I think many would agree with me, but I'm not saying it to be with the general opinion, I think I'm pretty reasonable when I review.

06. I Was Wrong A lot of people didn't like this song, and I can understand why, but for me, I loved it. Capsule fans would probably be WTFing right now. But this is soft in all the right ways. It's a style I really like and I actually like the samples used a lot. The vocals fit in it very nicely. It kinda makes me sad that not many like the song, it leaves me the odd one out, but I really do like it. I'm reading others reviews of the song right now, and they are harsh! But it's really nice, WTF is wrong with all of ya'll, not me. Anyways, it slows down the album nicely.

07. Can I Have A Word Stars off continuing the softness, then Toshiko comes in and it's love all over again. The pace picks up and that more mature sound is heard. The music is a softer fun, and the colors are yummy (yeah, I see colos in music). This song is just right. I just want to dance and spin about. Toshiko really shines in this track. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

08 What do you want to do And the previous track is cut seamlessly into this track. And Toshiko gets a little 'cute and sexy collide', and I don't mind (see what I did there?) Be fierce! Yes Toshiko, I want more! This is catchy, love! 'What do you want to do', oh so cute! Another piece where Toshiko shines, though she doesn't have much lines, it's only repetitive. The beats are lovely, Nakata is BOSS as usual.

09. Hello Glad there's an album version. I already really liked Hello for it's clean and cute sound. It's simplistic lyrics, I think, sums up the sound of the album. Hello, line, paint, color, design a dress, brightness. I think the who feel of fashion and design is in this album.

10. Love or Lies The song isn't changed, sadly. Again, I had already really liked Love or Lies. It's catchy and fun! Again, more use of UK Rap, and I really liked it. Those vocals were fierce. I just wished it was remixed
