Corrupter - New Unit

Infester - New Unit

Fomos - How was the game?
JaeDong - The graphics change to 3D made it difficult to get use to. But actually playing it I don't think much changed. It's similar to StarCraft 1 and I don't think there'll be any problems for the fans to enjoy it. If you get use to it I think it'll be very fun.
- How has zerg changed?
JD - The unit's characteristics changed. Adding new units and making them stronger, I believe if you concentrate on that the zerg will be powerful.
- The Queen was introduced.
JD - There were a few units not used in StarCraft. The Queen was an exmaple but in SC2 a lot of new abilities were added to make it better. I like the fact that there are a lot of new casters for zerg.
- Have you used the mutalisks.
JD - The mutalisks aren't much different from SC1. But the muta control has become more difficult. It's possible to clump them up as one but hitting and running control was impossible.
- How were the other units.
JD - I tried out the Nydus Worm and it creates canals while moving. It will become very useful. The zerglings were bigger so they seemed stronger. But in actuality they weren't much different. It only felt like that.
- If you play StarCraft 2.
JD - If I play StarCraft 2 (I assume they mean professionally?) I'll keep playing with zerg. In SC1 the zerg was a macro-specific race but in SC2 macro was obvious, but I think it requires more strategic and skillful techniques.

Fomos - How was the game?
Stork - I played protoss mostly and I was satisfied. The graphics were much better and I really liked the Mothership. But I think the mothership's blackhole ability was removed and she required a lot of mana so I wasn't able to test them out. The zerg became more gross and messy, but powerful.
- How's the protoss?
Stork - I didn't find it too difficult to play with protoss. The zerg felt similar to the previous game, but the buildings were a bit confusing because they looked the same.
- Do you think the fans of SC1 can easily adapt to SC2?
Stork - I think it depends on personal preference. It will probably depend on if you prefer 2D or 3D. It's probably because the game's still under development but I still like SC1 better.
- How were the new zerg units?
Stork - The Queen could be made straight from the hatchery. I didn't really understand because it was written in english, but when used correctly I think it will be a useful unit. A new unit called Roach was added and it had 90 HP. But unless you deal 90 damage to it, it will heal extremely fast to 100%. It was pretty cheap (unfair).
- The greatest difference of Protoss?
Stork - The units all look really cool. If anything changed it's that the Dark Archon was removed. Whether you morph Dark Templars or High Templars they all come out as archons. Pre-unit selection, MBS were possible so it felt like things were easier.
- Out of the units you tried today, which did u like the most?
Stork - I treid the psionic storm but it wasn't that cool. I liked the carrier the most but it won't be easy concentrating on control. The scout and arbiters were removed.

Short Summary

Lecaf (Z)Jaedong - The Queen had a lot of hype so I was looking forwared to it but I was disappointed because it didn't seem that great. It's HP and defense were weak and died pretty quickly. The feelings different but muta control was possible. Unlike StarCraft1 you could micro two groups at once but the hit-n-run tactic wasn't possible. A lot of new units were added making it possible for more dynamic plays.
MYM Moon - I've played with Protoss, Terran and now Zerg. The initial interface wasn't much different from WarCraft 3 so I don't think it will be very difficult getting use to. Personally I think the zerg is matches to my style the most.
MBCGame (P)Pusan - It's initial phase is similar to StarCraft but with better graphics. A lot of new units were added so I think it'll be fun. The only part I disliked maybe because it's 3D, but it didn't feel as clean as StarCraft. Playing against Zerg doesn't seem difficult too difficult in SC2 as well. If you begin at the same level then the one who practiced more would win.
Samsung (P)Stork - The Protoss graphics were very cool. The standard units have a much more impressive form than before. Because StarCraft was such a perfect game it will need a lot of changing for balancing and gaming. It will probably go through a lot of changes before it's officially released. The zerg has been given a lot of powerful magic. It seems much stronger. Playing against a zerg who uses his magic abilities well will probably be difficult to beat. And I think management will be more important than control.
WeMade (T)NaDa - It has a lot of similarities with StarCraft. Especially the Terran's characteristics and management styles are similar. I only regret that it doesn't have as many new changes compared to the other races. The Zerg that was announced today seemed very interesting. It has a lot of different units and has alot of different upgrades. The powerful unit Queen can be created quickly so it will probably be tricky for terrans to play against zerg.
KTF (P)rA - It seems like a lot of fun. For a game to be popular it must be fun. It will probably be very popular when released. I think it's too early to comment on the balance. Each race has been given powerful new units so I think it'll be really fun.
eStro (T)UpMagiC - It seems like a lot of fun. While testing I was looking for any aspects to use strategically. The terran can use the supply depot for strategical uses. If you lower your supplies to the ground then the units can move over it so you can always create a wall to open and close at your will. The zerg has a powerful canal. Using the canal they can attack your base without using drops.
OnGameNet (Z)Luxury - It seems a lot different from StarCraft. The Queen was much better, and you can create it really fast so it's even better. The easier canals will be a strong weapon for zerg. It's a shame the Overlord's detection ability was removed but still the zerg became very powerful.
CJ (Z)sAviOr - I was very excited for the queen but it wasn't as strong as I thought it'd be. There were a lot of new units but I wasn't able to figure out all the units and buildings yet. A lot of strong magic was added so if you use them correctly I think it will have a great impact on the game.
SKTelecom (P)Bisu - I played StarCraft2 for the first time today. It had a lot of different points. The Zerg's magic abilities seems like it will be tricky to play against, but you won't know until you play it. If I play I will work hard to show a powerful side against Zerg in StarCraft 2 aswell.
STX (T)Hwasin - The zerg became really good. Especially the fact that all units can now burrow (i'm assuming he means ground units). A lot of strong magic has been added so it won't be easy playing against them.

An public Q&A was conducted at the press conference in Korea today. Some big mysteries were revealed and some are yet to be seen.
Q: How far in development is SC2? And how much of it will be included in the final version?
A: Nothing's for certain. It took us such a long time because we were developing other games. Because of our perfectionism we can't say for sure when SC2 will be released.
Q: There's no Kerrigan in the video. Is the Queen Kerrigan? If not, how is Kerrigan represented? Also the Roach looks like a... roach. People called Paladins from WoW Roaches so is that the reason?
A: The Roach has nothing to do with the Paladin. Kerrigan is a unique unit and will only be playable in the single-player campaign.

Q: How many Starcraft 1 developers are involved in SC2 right now? I heard some developers of C&C were brought over and therefore was not a real sequel to SC1.
A: There are about 12 original developers. It also sticks to the original and is therefore a sequel! We've worked hard to make this a fun game and tried to satisfy picky players on multiplayer.
Q: I heard SC2 uses a new graphics engine. Can you tell us the specifics?
A: I’m not a graphics expert, but I can tell you we have several advanced graphics techniques being used.
Q: The Zerg scenario ended with the Protoss attacking, but the Terran were conquered for the Protoss assault. Is the sequel loyal to the original storyline? The Queen seems to be used like a hero. Do we have to tech to use it?
A: The storyline is still under development. We can’t give you any details on it yet. The Queen is usable from the beginning and is specialized towards defense. More to come later.

Q: In WWI the Mothership was a super unit and was changed to a normal unit in Blizzcon. Queen has become a superunit so what’s become of the Mothership? Do terrans have a superunit as well? The graphics look great and the system requirements look pretty steep.
A: We can’t tell you anything for certain in the game right now. The Queen’s not really a superunit but really a specialized unit. It’s weak when not defended! It’s not a hero. The sys reqs are low enough so many more users can play. A graphics card with Pixel Shader 2.0 is required.
Q: You said the development process takes a long time but Activision Blizzard's CEO Bruce Hack (spelling?) said it'll be out soon. About when will SC2 be released? And what will happen to SC1's sales and marketing once SC2 is released?
A: We can't say when we'll release. We'll be going for perfection. Also we have differences with Bruce Hack. However we both want to release this game ASAP. And because we have SC2 it doesn't mean we'll forget about SC1. If there's one user that loves SC1 we'll keep it going.

A: Infestation is still being tested. We’ve only shown our work in progress. We’re trying to make Infestation a valid tactic in SC2. Supply depots can be infested as well. This will be a useful ability this time around. Currently you can only produce infested marines but that’s subject to change.
Q: As of today, all 3 races have been announced. Each race has strengths and weaknesses. What do you think, as a developer, are the strengths and weaknesses of each of the three races?
A: Us developers don't focus too much upon strengths and weaknesses. That's why we don't add so many unnecessary features. The player is left to decide what the strengths and weaknesses are.
Conclusion
It looks like StarCraft 2 is coming along very nicely and hopefully they will be able to provide us with a release date soon. Although the Q&A is very vague it is very exciting!

Savior: Its hard to say, there are a lot of changes, i didnt get to analyze everything.
FiFo: Have there been a lot of changes compared to SC1?
Savior: The early tech is the same, but the units gained a lot of special abilities. But i dont understand the game yet which makes it hard to play fast.
FiFo: Compared to SC1, do you think it is good for e-sports?
Savior: It is fast enough. After we got used to it there wont be to much differences, so i think there wont be any problems.
FiFo: Will you play Zerg in SC2?
Savior: Im not sure yet, but its very interesting. It looks like it could be more fun, so i will try to play Zerg first, however i dont know for sure yet.

Moon: I dont udnerstand them yet, it seems like there have been a lot of changes made in comparison to SC1, the tech is similair but there are a lot of upgrades in different buildings, i think they gained a lot of strategic advantages. Burrow is used way more often than before.
FiFo: How is the gamespeed?
Moon: It is as fast as SC1, i think the koreans will like it, anyhow it will be a game that will be fun to play.
FiFo: Will you become a SC2 progamer when its being released?
Moon: I want to try! The game is fun and i will definetly have to think about a gamechange.

So are Queens the New Cerebrates?
- I have no idea.
What is your artwork like?
- It is mostly Blizzard style. All our artwork is kickass and we want it to be memorable. Terrans are a group of Texas hillbillies in the future, not boring and noble federation guys. That's some of our artwork style. Grindy.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
- Frank Frizetta whos is a Comic artist, a lot of the old D&D artists. Movies, comics, animals. You mostly come up with your own stuff though, as you can see on some of my anatomy.
How did you handle the Dark Templar design and the critique?
- It was a lot of people's favorite character, so it's hard to please everybody. Some people loved the new design, some hated it. It's the same as the wings on the Zerglings, some loved it some did not. Now it's removed. We will make the game so we think it's cool. It's a gut feeling.
We want to keep the original feel to the game, but not so it's like 2D in 1998. We wanted to update it and have a cooler look. The Zealot for example, now it doen't have its McDonalds archers on its armor, now it's more golden and cool. Aside from most of design tweaks, it is alot like the original.
The Queen is one of the biggest changes, it's no longer an umbrella looking creature, it's actually the "mother" of the Zerg base. It has much a more kick-ass look to it and is the "Queen" it should have been.
