MCM design: GPU+eDRAM die and CPU die on the same substrate.
2 GB of gDDR3 memory @800MHz (DDR3-1600), organized in 4x 4Gb (256Mx16) modules, sitting on a 64bit bus (@800MHz). That gives a net BW of 12800MB/s (12.5GB/s). We can conveniently refer to this pool as 'MEM2'. Currently 1GB of that pool is reserved for the OS.
32 MB of unknown organisation, unknown specs eDRAM, sitting with the GPU. We can conveniently refer to this pool as 'MEM1'
Tri-core CPU, binary compatible with Gekko/Broadway, featuring 3MB of cache in asymmetric config: 2x 512KB, 1x 2048KB; so far several things indicate CPU cache is implemented via eDRAM itself. Unknown clock, unknown architecture enhancements (e.g. SIMD, etc).
AMD R700-originating GPU (R700 is AMD architecture codename 'Wekiva'), evolved into its own architecture (AMD architecture codename 'Mario'), relying on MEM1 for framebuffer purposes, but also for local render targets and scratch-pad purposes.
Memory access specifics: both MEM1 and MEM2 are read/write accessible by the CPU, both subject to caching. GPU in its turn also has access to both pools, and is likely serving as the north bridge in the system (an educated guess, subject to calling out).
System is equipped with extra co-processors in the shape of a dual-core ARM (unknown architecture) and a DSP core (again of unknown architecture) primarily for sounds workloads.
BluRay-based optical drive, 22.5MB/s, 25GB media.

Kaijima nói:In point of fact, I'd agree that Wii U has been "rushed to the market", but with a caveat:
For years, everyone has said "lol Nintendo, they understand nothing, and could never make anything competitive".
But it seems the cartoonification of Nintendo in people's groupthink has left no room for what is probably the more practical, realistic truth: Nintendo was behind. They have to catch up. What we're seeing now is what it looks like when you begin catching up.
What did people really expect? Was it realistic to expect Nintendo to become Microsoft on launch day? Everyone goes on about "it's 2012, these are the features we expect", but at the end of the day, it's nice to want things. The reality may beg to differ.
So this is the situation we've got, and honestly were probably always going to get. Stripping away the LOLTENDO talk and catcalls from people who aren't even trying the platform out, we've got:
* The usual network and firmware clusterfuck that just about everyone has to some degree at big rollouts of new products that aren't the result of multi-gen iteration.
* A few noteworthy 3rd party releases shit the bed for being rushed launch ports, which we had warning signs about when certain developers said their port could have parity... if they were allowed enough time to clean it up. (ACIII porting devs said this directly, if I recall.)
* One big issue that Nintendo needs to respond to, in the form of Nintendo account binding to a console - which is a confused situation to start with, since they've said such accounts will be usuable on other devices in the future.
* An OS that doesn't have yet 100% feature parity with the popular comparison of Xbox 360 OS and Live. Despite that it fixes several major issues Nintendo has had, and to balance this out launches with a number of good ideas and conventions. And a legitimately good social system that it seems everybody disregarded before launch. Yet people actually using the system are greatly enjoying to their own surprise.
Calling this the biggest cluserfuck of a launch ever is dishonest. Comparing it to the RROD unfavorably is crazy - where everyone's consoles died over and over for years, with some people going through six Xbox 360s. The usual junk comments to the effect Nintendo = backwards, knows nothing, etc, are of no value.
Nintendo has a serious situation on their hands here, that they walked into knowingly. Despite attempts to characterize them alternately as idiots or con men, their CEO has been pretty damned forthright and non-hyperbolic. They seem to have launched with a combination of functionality and features that were estimated to give the platform value and address some of people's biggest concerns (some). That won't make everyone happy, but they didn't do a terrible job in light of how far they have to catch up. Discounting typical day-1 dramatic reactions and apocalyptic commentary (well, it is 2012, to be fair), what really matters now is how they proceed from this point and in what timeframe.
U.S. gamers are beta testers for the Japan launch.
