Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about one of the best MMO games in the world – World of Warcraft (WoW)
Central Idea: Characters and the world of WoW. Why people love this game and why WoW has over 8 millions player all over the world.
I.Currently, the population of Earth is estimated to be around 6.7 billion people. As of this week, roughly 0.1 percent of the sum of modern humanity plays World of Warcraft. On May 2007, Blizzard Entertainment announced that more than 8 million people subscribe to the massive massively multiplayer online role-playing game, setting a new milestone for the title more than two years after its fall 2004 release.
II.Maybe you have heard about it on the news, in the magazine or even in your car when you listening to the radio, WoW is the most popular online game in the world.
III.You may wonder what WoW is, and today I’m going to tell you about the characters and the world of WoW.
I.The world of WoW:
a.World of Warcraft is an online role-playing experience set in the award-winning Warcraft universe. Players assume the roles of Warcraft heroes as they explore, adventure, and quest across a vast world. World of Warcraft is a "Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game" which allows thousands of players to interact within the same world. Whether adventuring together or fighting against each other in epic battles, players will form friendships, forge alliances, and compete with enemies for power and glory.
b.As a massively multiplayer online game, World of Warcraft lets thousands of players to come together online and battle against the monsters and each other. Players can leave the real world behind and take some quests and heroic exploits in a land of fantastic adventure.
II.Characters of WoW:
a.There are two types of characters in the game: Player Characters and Non-Player Characters (NPCs). A Player Character is an avatar in the world of Azeroth that is controlled by a player. Non-Player Characters are controlled by the game software. NPCs in major and minor cities can buy and sell merchandise, train class and profession skills, give quests and provide a large number of services that are needed in the game. While some will merely offer advice or further the story, others, such as city guards, patrol around set paths to keep cities defended against attacking PCs or hostile NPCs that may attempt to invade.
b.The races: There are 10 races in WoW that gamer can play. The races are split into two diametrically opposed factions, the Alliance and the Horde.
· The Alliance currently consists of Humans, Night Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes and Draenei.
· The Horde currently consists of Orcs, Tauren, Undead, Trolls and Blood Elves.
c.The classes: the game has 9 classes that player can choose from. Some class restrictions are imposed based on race, so not all classes are available for each race. Each class of the nine has a set of unique abilities and talents. Nine available classes in WoW are: Druid, Hunter, Mage, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, and Warrior.
d.The worst thing about World of Warcraft is that you can't just play it all the time. After all, chances are if you start, you'll never want to stop. Again, though, part of what makes this game so remarkable is it doesn't assume that all you have to do in your busy life is play this one game,
Today I have told you about the World of Warcraft. Within 5 minutes, I can’t tell you everything about this great game so I just told you about 2 main parts: the characters and the world of World of Warcraft. And I have to tell you again: This game is the best game ever. If you’re looking for a game to play during this winter break, or during your whole life, you should choose World of Warcraft.
