From looking at the pics and stuff, here is what appears to be the parts list
1 PSOne cable (or other 4 conductor 1/8 plug)
2 stereo female 1/8 sockets
Electrical tape or heatshrink tubing
Soldering iron, solder
Basic electric skills
There are 3 wires, all 2 conductor, on the cable. The outer wire, wrapped around the inner plastic and wire, is the common ground. The inner wires, coated with plastic, are the individual leads for the left, right and mic.
Cut the cable (leave yourself about 6" to 1' to work with)
Carefully cut off about half an inch of the outer rubber coating to expose the wire wrapped cores
Fold or peel back the outer wire
Carefully cut off about 1/4 inch of the plastic coating around the inner wire, making sure not to go right to the end (you don't want the ground wires to touch the leads or it will be a dead short and won't work)
Do that for all three wires
Test fit the wires to the connectors and trim off any excess wire length
Tin up the wires (heat them with the iron, then rub the solder on them so the ends are all coated, but not connected to each other or to your kid sister's face or anything)
Unscrew the first connector. Slide the outer casing onto the mic wire. Slide heatshrink tubing onto the wire, if you are using it
Solder the mic wire connections. Check the pics at the start of this thread for more info on what connects to what
Tape up or slide the tubing over the exposed wires. Heat the tubing
Slide up the outer housing for the connector and screw it down
For the headphone connector, do the same as for the mic connector, but connect the two inner leads to left and right and connect both ground wires to the ground pin on the connector
Plug in a pair of headphones to the stereo connector. Plug your adapter into a walkman or your psp or something. Is the sound coming out? Are the left and right channels correct?
Plug the adapter into your remote
Plug your favourite headset into the two plugs you have attached. Frag yourself a merry little Xmas.
