Paradox đã ra bản DLC mới nhất là Charlemagne kèm patch 2.2. Thay đổi lần này gồm:
- Start date pushed back to 769.
- Viceroyalty: non-tribal emperor tier characters will be able to appoint viceroys (lifetime governorship, the title goes back to the liege on death)[1].
- Custom kingdoms and empires (3 duchies to form a titular kingdom, 3 kingdoms to form a titular empire)
- Narrative events to tell historical stories and relations between important characters.
- Cultural melting pots and decisions
- Chronicles of your dynasty
- Tribal holdings (buildings built with prestige, vassals need to be called as allies) that can potentially become feudal castle or merchant republic city.
- Centralization law balancing a new vassal limit vs demesne size limit.
- Legalism cultural technology only unlocks new laws. Short reign penalty is moved to the Majesty technology.
- Regency overhaul: new Designated Regent honorary title, regent traits and his opinion of the ruler matters, in particular for unlocking diplomatic actions.
- Elective gavelkind succession law
- Assassination overhaul: no more diplomacy action, only possible via plot.
- Seasonal effects: attrition increased with snow
- New UI for selecting start date and initial character.
- Zuni religion
- Spectator mode

Đã thử cầm Charlemagne, thấy hầu hết các sự kiện lớn như Karl bất hòa với e trai Karloman, thái hậu Betrada ám sát Karloman để Karl làm vua của cả Frank luôn đều xảy ra như trong lịch sử.

Vụ Centralization hơi oải do bị limit số direct vassal, giờ nghiên cứu legalism chỉ nâng thêm mỗi cấp 1 mức Centralizatiion, mà lại còn phải vote thông qua royal law như Authority nữa

À, ngoài ra nếu chơi Karl mà lấy công chúa của Lombardy (bất kỳ con nào, nhưng lấy con lớn tuổi nhất thì tốt hơn vì nó có stewardship khá cao, tăng demense cho mình sau khi cưới) mà có event divorce thì sau đó Karl sẽ có claim với toàn bộ Lombardy luôn, chiếm xong là có thể thành lập HRE luon chứ ko cần đến 8k prestige với 3 title king để lập empire mới.
