I have been seeing this misinformation commonly spread around this sub, that Venti's Q is only limited to 3 Swirls due to ICD. It's clearly not true, and anyone who has Venti should be able to test this for themselves. However in several conversations I've had people insist that their Venti is limited somehow, and I continue to see this comment come up. I'm not sure where the source of this is, if a youtuber somewhere made a video stating this and people have been following it without testing themselves or what. I'd like people to be informed on how it actually works before his repeat banner arrives.
Venti's Q can consistently Swirl a single element on a single enemy up to 7 times, as seen in the first example of the video. This "limit" is per element - if you have a dual elemental aura like Electro-charged ( Hydro + Electro ), he can Swirl both of them on a single proc as seen in the second example. The more elemental auras ( for example, on separate enemies ) you're able to add into the mix, the more he can Swirl.
Of course, he will Swirl in AoE per enemy as well, so adding more enemies to the mix will increase the available Swirls. The limit on Swirl itself is that you can only get 2 procs of the AoE damage per element for each instance of AoE Anemo damage that procs Swirl. Hydro is an exception because it doesn't do AoE damage, only single target while spreading Wet, and there is no limit to how many single target instances of damage it can do. This means that theoretically you could reach a maximum of 42 Swirls ( 7 procs, 2 per element, 3 elemental auras ) plus any single-target Swirls proc'd from Hydro over the course of his Q, though it's realistically unlikely to ever happen due to Elemental Absorption and Swirl itself causing auras to replace each other.
