Many months ago, Joss Whedon was announced to direct a
Batgirl solo movie, but before he did that, he would have to finish production on
Justice League after Zack Snyder stepped down. Now that
Justice League is out, many fans have criticized Joss Whedon for his extensive reshoots and detracting from Zack Snyder’s vision. Due to this bad press, his involvement on the Batgirl movie has been called into question. We at SuperBroMovies have been told from an inside source at Warner Brothers that Joss Whedon will no longer be directing the Batgirl solo movie.
Our inside source tells us that Joss Whedon was removed from the film by WB a couple months ago. They did this due to negative press surrounding Whedon’s personal life. In a post by
The Wrap, his ex-wife detailed the many affairs he had during their marriage. WB did not want this surrounding their future films.
WB also knew that
Justice League would not be the smash hit that many fans were hoping for. There was a chaotic production when Whedon stepped in and many things were rushed. With this in mind, WB did not think he was suitable to carry a film on his own.
This did happen a couple months ago, so there is the chance that WB has changed their minds. However, that is very unlikely considering the huge backlash from fans after
Justice League’s release. Joss Whedon most likely won’t return for another DC film.
