How to Import Dynasty Warriors 8 Game Data into Dynasty Warriors Xtreme Legends. Top row stories availible. – 04-03-2014,12:39 AM
First off, if you like Koei games and are a fan of the Dynasty Warriors series this is by far one of the best expansions. The Lu Bu content alone is worth it. But the character and weapons makes it that much more awesom...ey... er
If you've got the Dynasty Warriors 8 game backed up on your internal and still want to play Xteme Legends with all the main game content read on.
This tutorial will simplify things by letting you enjoy Dynasty Warriors 8 in it's entirety and not have to switch back and forth between the games Normally, when you go into story mode and select a Kingdom to play there will be a bunch in the top row that will not allow you to select. Those are all th 88 scenarios that were in the Main release. The 35 scenarios for Free Mode will also be available.
This process is only if you don't have the Dynasty Warriors 8 disc anymore and are just playing off a backup. Also, is not the same as importing your game progress, that can be done when the game boots for the first time.
Usually, when you hit 'import' on the DW8 XL main menu it will ask you to insert your DW8 disc. When it See's that there is no disc in there it will only let you cancel it out back to the main menu.
This process described below is to import the game data as if you have the disc in the machine.
Please Note -this process will only work if you are able to run the FTP server in the background while the game is being played. So you will need a Cobra CFW or a PRX loader with the right plug-ins. Also, doing this with DW 8 XL is installed on the internal HD is easier, it takes far less time. Lastly, have the contents of DW 8 installed on the system. This can be done by going into the DW 8 game and hitting the Install Data option in the Main Menu. It will take about 15-20 min if you have not already done so.
1. Load Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtereme Legends.
2. Go to "Import" in the main menu.
3. When it asks you to insert the the Dynasty Warriors 8 disc go to your PC.
4. Load a FTP client and connect to your PS3 (I prefer Filezilla for this task)
5. Navigate to either "/dev_bdvd" or "/dev_hdd0/GAMES/DYNASTY WARRIORS 8 Xtreme Legends BLUS31402" (the second one is what you named DW8 XL folder on the Internal HD.)
6. Create 2 new directories. For this example we are in the "/dev_bdvd" directory. Rename one new directory 'DW 8' and the second one 'DW 8 XL'.
7. Move/Drag the 3 Items PS3_GAME, PS3_UPDATE, PS3_DISC.SFB into the DW 8 XL folder (this is why I like Filezilla for doing this, you can simply drag and drop all three or do it one by one).
8. Navigate to /dev_hdd0/GAMES and go into your 'Dynasty Warriors 8 folder'
9. Now move "PS3_GAME, PS3_UPDATE, PS3_DISC.SFB to /dev_bdvd (With filezilla simply drag and drop each one to the "..." folder then this time Drop them in the Dynasty Warriors 8 XL game folder on your internal. You will notice that the folders you created are there.
10. Now that the "PS3_GAME, PS3_UPDATE, PS3_DISC.SFB" from the DW 8 Game folder are now located here in the dev_bdvd/DW 8 XL game folder you can move to your PS3.
11. Hit the Eject button and then put then put the disc back in. Now is when it will scan for the DW 8 disc files. It should only take a few seconds since the game is already installed on the system. If DW 8 is not installed it may copy the contents off the disc at this point.
12. At this point it will ask you to insert the DW 8 XL disc back into the machine. Eject the disk again, but before you put it back in go to your PC.
13. On the Filezilla or what ever FTP client you are using, move the 3 items "PS3_GAME, PS3_UPDATE, PS3_DISC.SFB to the DW 8 folder now and then go into the DW 8 XL folder and move it's contents back out by dragging them to the "..." folder.
14. Back to the PS3. Now insert the disc and it should let you back to the main menu. You can confirm it is working by going into story mode and trying to select one of the scenarios in the top row, if it loads then everything worked, if you try to hit X and nothing loads then it didn't. Repeat the process.
If everything went well move the contents of the DW 8 folder back to where they where in your hdd0/GAME/DW8_GAME_FOLDER_NAME
All this the process is doing is making the PS3 think that you have inserted the DW8 disc. You can think of the dev_bdvd folder as a link to what ever is mounted, as long as it is not a disc you should have read and write permissions available in that folder.
