For those who are not aware, the fan pack of LPU9 has already began to be sold in certain Best Buy's and rips of the album have already made their way onto the internet. As always (with every new album) we must remind you that public links to leaks are not allowed on our forums/website, and that any posting of links will result in an instant ban from our forums.
Now on to the album, how does it sound? Well, after two listens to the CD already; this may very well be the CD us fan club members have been waiting for since the LPU 2.0 CD came out back in 2002. Many of the versions of the songs you hear on the CD are versions that are shockingly different from their original counterparts. For instance, Faint has completely different lyrics in the verse and absolutely no singing in the chorus or bridge. "Fear" (Leave Out All The Rest) features Mike singing a drastically different song than what we hear on Minutes To Midnight. Figure.09 is the infamous 'singing version' and is a treat to the ears.
As for the Xero demo, sadly this is the only disappointment on the CD as it is a mere 55 seconds long and does not feature any vocals from Chester as many people originally thought. Since Chester did not join the band until around 1998, chances are this is the instrumental Chester recorded his vocals over that ultimately led to his acceptance within the band.
Finally, the new song "Across The Line" is an extreme departure from other songs featured on Minutes To Midnight. Featuring lyrics that seem to deal directly with drugs and suicide, musically this song does not fit the same alternative rock feel found on Minutes To Midnight and it's easy to see why this was not included and why it might have fit better as possibly a Dead By Sunrise track or even a track on the new album. Definitely a departure, and the bridge (while I will not spoil it for the fans) is a pleasant surprise.
It will take a few listens for all the surprises on this CD to sink in (Drum Song has Mike singing and not Chester), but overall this is a fantastic CD and worth the hype and hysteria that surrounded it.
Excellent disc, and a welcome departure from previous years.
Final Score: 4/5

01. A-Six (2002 Demo)
[Instrumental]
02. Faint (2002 Demo)
[Verse 1]
I'm back, before I said goodbye,
Just as the first day turned to night,
Just as the concrete turned to dust,
And the steel turned into rust
All I could think was a new way to dig through the damage,
Couldn't think of a way to get through this,
Now I see you taking advantage,
And I've found another reason to do this
[Pre-Chorus]
I'm digging us a hole to travel through,
I'm looking to find a way to rattle you
You wanna try to hear the thunder hit?
You're gonna have to follow me under it
Let go,
It's begun
Close your eyes
I'm not done,
Breath a word, waste your breath,
And keep it up till there's nothing left
[Chorus - No Lyrics]
Now that I've said goodbye,
Just as the darkness turned to light,
Just as the next light turns to day
And the world gets underway
All I can see is the answers,
The patient waiting
To take this out of the wind and the raindrops
And I'm waiting patiently taking it in,
Ready for the first of the face-offs
[Pre-Chorus]
I'm digging us a hole to travel through,
I'm looking to find a way to rattle you
You wanna try to hear the thunder hit?
You're gonna have to follow me under it
Let go,
It's begun
Close your eyes
I'm not done,
Breath a word, waste your breath,
And keep it up till there's nothing left
[Chorus and Bridge - No Lyrics]

06. Stick And Move (1998 Demo)
[Instrumental]
07. Across The Line (2007 Demo)
[Verse 1]
In this desert, in darkness
Lying with a gun across his chest,
Pretending he's heartless,
As the fire flashes in the sky
He was fragile and frozen
When a bullet took away his friend
And now he's somehow more broken
[Chorus]
He's pulling his weapon to the side,
Loading it full of his goodbyes,
Holding an enemy across the line x2
[Verse 2]
Sweating and shaking,
Lying with her hands across her chest
She wakes with her cravings,
As the fire flashes in her eyes
She was fragile and frozen
When the needle took away her friend
And now she's somehow more broken
[Chorus]
She's pulling her weapon to her side,
Loading it full of her goodbyes,
Holding an enemy across the line x2
[Bridge]
With every battle he's choosing
With every fight he's losing,
His enemy's not far behind
With every promise she's broken
With every lie she's spoken
Her enemy's not far behind
It's your time x3
It's your time!!!
[Chorus]
He's pulling his weapon to the side,
Loading it full of his goodbyes,
Holding an enemy across the line
She's pulling her weapon to her side,
Loading it full of her goodbyes,
Holding an enemy across the line
[Outro]
With every battle he's choosing
With every fight he's losing,
His enemy's not far behind
With every promise she's broken
With every lie she's spoken
Her enemy's not far behind
