Mặc dù chi tiết vụ việc vẫn chưa được công bố nhưng hôm nay, theo thông tin từ The New York Times thì dịch vụ chia sẻ file trực tuyến Megaupload đã bị đóng cửa bởi các công tố viên liên bang Hoa Kì. Căn cứ theo nội dung bảng cáo trạng do The Verge cung cấp, Megaupload được cho là "một tổ chức tội phạm quốc tế bị cáo buộc chịu trách nhiệm về các hành vi vi phạm bản quyền trực tuyến trầm trọng trên toàn thế giới." Bộ phận sáng lập và cá nhân liên quan cũng bị xử phạt do vi phạm luật bản quyền, cụ thể: nhà sáng lập Megaupload - Kim Dotcom sẽ phải đóng mức phạt hình sự lên đến 175 triệu USD và những chi phí này cũng đi kèm với án phạt tù với mức án tối đa 20 năm cho âm mưu "tống tiền", 5 năm cho hành vi vi phạm bản quyền, 20 năm cho hoạt động rửa tiền và 5 năm cho mỗi nội dung vi phạm bản quyền hiện tại. Nhà sáng lập trang web có trụ sở ở Hong Kong này là một trong bốn người bị bắt trong vụ mà Bộ Tư pháp cùng Cục Điều tra Liên bang Mỹ FBI mô tả là “vụ xâm phạm bản quyền lớn nhất trong lịch sử.”

Trong một thông cáo được phát đi ngày 19/1, Bộ Tư pháp Mỹ cùng FBI đã nói 7 người bị bắt “phải chịu trách nhiệm vì tình trạng xâm phạm bản quyền trên mạng với số lượng lớn, thông qua Megaupload.com và một số website khác.”

Hai cơ quan nói trên cho biết những người bị bắt đã thu được nhiều hơn số tiền 175 triệu USD mà cơ quan chức năng thu được, đồng thời gây ra thiệt hai “trên nửa tỷ USD” cho những người bị xâm phạm bản quyền, thông qua các hoạt động “ăn cắp phim, chương trình TV và các nội dung khác.”

Tuyên bố này được đưa ra chỉ một ngày sau khi các trang web nổi tiếng như Wikipedia, Google tiến hành đình công trên mạng để phản đối dự luật về chống xâm phạm bản quyền của chính phủ Mỹ.

Công ty Megaupload Ltd và một công ty khác là Vestor Ltd đã bị truy tố trước một ủy ban bồi thẩm tại Virginia, bị buộc tội xâm phạm bản quyền ở các mức độ khác nhau và âm mưu rửa tiền.

Details are still somewhat light at the moment, but reports are now coming out that the popular Megaupload file-sharing site has been shut down by Federal prosecutors in the US, and that the sites founders and other individuals have been charged with violating piracy laws. According to The New York Times, the indictment says that the company has cost copyright holders some $500 million in lost revenue, and that the site was at one time the 13th most popular on the internet. As the Times also notes, this news comes a day after Megaupload voluntarily blacked out its website to protest the SOPA and PIPA anti-piracy legislation now being considered by Congress.

Sau MU, đến lượt Fileserve và Filesonic có những bước đi tiêu cực chống lại khách hàng của họ ...

Sau vụ megaupload, hiện tại 2 webhosting chia sẽ hàng đầu là Fileserve và Filesonic đã tiến hành các bước đi "tiêu cực", sẵn sàng rời bỏ khách hàng sử dụng dịch vụ của họ để tránh việc bị đánh sập, chi tiết như sau :

Fileserve :

- Hủy bỏ affiliate program ( chương trình upload để tiếm tiền, cứ mỗi 1000 downloads, uploader nhận đc 10-25USD )

- Delete toàn bộ data và account của uploader, những người trước đó đã tham gia vào affiliate program.

- Delete toàn bộ link mà họ "cho là" vi phạm bản quyền. Chẳng hạn như các file rar, khi vừa upload lên sẽ lập tức được double check và nếu đó là các nội dung vi phạm, lập tức bị delete vài phút sau đó.

Filesonic :

- Hủy bỏ affiliate program ( chương trình upload để tiếm tiền, cứ mỗi 1000 downloads, uploader nhận đc 10-35USD ).

- Điều tồi tệ nhất là chuyển filesonic sharing service thành private use only. Nghĩa là bạn chỉ có thể download được chính file của bạn đã upload lên account của mình. Bạn không thể upload 1 thứ gì đó rồi gửi link download cho người khác được nữa vì chức năng này hiện tại đã bị chính filesonic xóa bỏ.

Những thứ trên cho ta những gì ?

Sẽ chẳng có gì tốt đẹp, game/music/music video/movies/HD movies chúng ta hàng ngày vẫn download về chơi/nghe/xem v.v... sẽ không còn đc upload lên nữa. Nếu bạn để ý, hầu hết những thứ bạn download về đều xuất phát từ torrent/MU/FS/FSN, lâu lâu có thêm Wupload, uploadstation v.v...Tất cả sẽ không còn nữa rồi =(

Có lẽ thời đại torrent sẽ trỗi dậy, tuy nhiên đối với vài quốc gia như United States of America, Singapore, Australia, Japan v.v.. nhà chức trách có thể kiểm soát đc toàn bộ những thứ download/upload qua torrent và sẵn sàng bắt những người upload/download torrent nếu phát hiện đó là những thông tin vi phạm bản quyền.

Hầu hết những thứ ta có được, 90% đều xuất phát từ US và các nước phát triển nêu trên, xem ra chẳng cần SOPA đc thông qua, mỗi vụ megaupload cũng đã khiến cho internet thay đổi rồi....

Tiên đoán trước đây là 2012 sẽ là năm cuối cùng của nhân loại, có lẽ con người vẫn sẽ sống, tuy nhiên 1 thế giới khác của nhân loại là internet năm 2012 sẽ là năm ... cuối cùng !?

SOPA chưa được thông qua thì tạm thời vận dụng những luật đang có để triệt. Ai bảo dám "xung phong" phản đối :))

One of the world's largest file-sharing sites was shut down Thursday, and its founder and several company executives were charged with violating piracy laws, federal prosecutors said.

An indictment accuses Megaupload.com of costing copyright holders more than $500 million in lost revenue from pirated films and other content. The indictment was unsealed one day after websites including Wikipedia and Craigslist shut down in protest of two congressional proposals intended to thwart online piracy.

The Justice Department said in a statement said that Kim Dotcom, formerly known as Kim Schmitz, and three others were arrested Thursday in New Zealand at the request of U.S. officials. Two other defendants are at large.

Megaupload was unique not only because of its massive size and the volume of downloaded content, but also because it had high-profile support from celebrities, musicians and other content producers who are most often the victims of copyright infringement and piracy. Before the website was taken down, it contained endorsements from Kim Kardashian, Alicia Keys and Kanye West, among others.

The Hong Kong-based company listed Swizz Beatz, a musician who married Keys in 2010, as its CEO.

Before the site was taken down, it posted a statement saying allegations that it facilitated massive breaches of copyright laws were "grotesquely overblown."

"The fact is that the vast majority of Mega's Internet traffic is legitimate, and we are here to stay. If the content industry would like to take advantage of our popularity, we are happy to enter into a dialogue. We have some good ideas. Please get in touch," the statement said.

A lawyer who represented the company in a lawsuit last year declined comment Thursday.

Megaupload is considered a "cyberlocker," in which users can upload and transfer files that are too large to send by email. Such sites can have perfectly legitimate uses. But the Motion Picture Association of America, which has campaigned for a crackdown on piracy, estimated that the vast majority of content being shared on Megaupload was in violation of copyright laws.

The website allowed users to download films, TV shows, games, music and other content for free, but made money by charging subscriptions to people who wanted access to faster download speeds or extra content. The website also sold advertising.

The indictment was returned in the Eastern District of Virginia, which claimed jurisdiction in part because some of the alleged pirated materials were hosted on leased servers in Ashburn, Va.

Dotcom, a resident of both Hong Kong and New Zealand, and a dual citizen of Finland and Germany, made more than $42 million from the conspiracy in 2010 alone, according to the indictment.

Dotcom is founder, former CEO and current chief innovation officer of Megaupload.

Vào đây đọc được cái này... Toi cái MU Life Time hồi xưa mua 3 củ của mình, mà cũng may hồi xưa mua sớm, giờ hơn giá tăng gần gấp đôi. Tội mấy bạn mua muộn.

Mờ may mà nghỉ làm uploader lâu rồi nên chả có gì lưu trên MU cả.
 
Vậy là megaupload ngủm thiệt hơ? Ôi mẹ ơi, con life time mình bỏ ra 1 chai để mua hồi 2008. Giờ ngồi hóng xem chính sách đền bù cho khách hàng trung thành là như thế nào.

Kiểu gì cũng bị hết thôi. Các bạn mua ổ cứng lưu trữ cho con cháu về sau nó xài là vừa, ko về sau ko có mà down nữa đâu.
 
hận thật, thức cả đêm bạckup vài bộ truyện hay ta được mình đặc biệt tuyển chọn lên mề gà để làm của hồi môn cho con cháu đời sau nó đọc, vậy mà....

btw trên gK vừa có bài ném gạch lão Lamar, đặt background website của mình bằng cái ảnh vi phạm bản quyền bị tác giả gửi thư dọa kiện =))
