Sony making new announcements at GDC

Sony-Announces-GDC-400x200.jpg

If you didn’t think Sony would be making any game announcements at next week’s Game Developers Conference, think again. Overheard by IGN Managing Director Justin Keeling at a cafe near Sony Computer Entertainment Europe in London, “SCEE is talking VERY loudly about their GDC announcements,” he tweeted.

“And now some E3 as well,” he added in another tweet.

Now we know why Sony is such a leaky ship!

The Game Developers Conference kicks off Monday, March 5 and ends on Friday, March 9.

Sumioni Ranking Mode Patch Hits on March 9

The patch Acquire promised for Sumioni at last has a final release date. Acquire said today that the patch will arrive on March 9 as a free update through PSN.

As previously detailed, the patch adds two modes: a ranking mode and a gallery mode. The ranking mode is a test to see how quickly you can clear the stage while taking as little damage as possible.

Acquire will be using the ranking mode for a national tournament. For further details on which stages you'll want to master for the tournament, see the official site.

Welcome To Gaming Heaven on PlayStation Vita Commercial
Sony's upcoming PlayStation Vita web broadcast is named "Welcome! PS Vita Game Heaven." The name is actually part of a larger promotional campaign, which you can see in this commercial spot.

The commercial "welcomes" players to things like a large screen, beauty, crispness and, at the end, "heaven."

Sony posts commercials for Vita at the official PlayStation.jp site so be sure and check it periodically.

OFFICIAL SITE

Sony has shared a new preview video for next week's PlayStation Vita Game Heaven broadcast. This video shows some of the guest creators who will be making an appearance and presumably detailing their PlayStation Vita offerings.

Among the participants are:

Satoshi Sakai (known for the Phantasy Star series)
Katsura Hashino (known for the Persona series)
Toshihiro Kondo, Ken Nakanko (from Falcom)
Takanobu Terada (known for the Super Robot Wars series)
For Hashino and the Falcom guys, we already know about Persona 4 The Golden and Zero no Kiseki Evolution, so their appearance could be just in reference to updates on those games. But the appearance of Sakai and Terada has caused some speculation that we could be getting announcements related to their series.

Đây là thông tin chính xác : http://exophase.com/35844/sony-remo...edge-from-ps-store-following-ps-vita-exploit/
Sony has yanked PSP title Motorstorm Arctic Edge from the PlayStation Store following an announcement from homebrew developer wololo that said game was vulnerable to a savegame exploit, which allows Vita users to run homebrew code through the built-in PSP emulator. It’s worth noting that this is based on the same exploit showcased by teck4 not long after the Vita launch. To date, it still has not been patched through firmware.

We can confirm that the title is no longer showing up for purchase on the associated US and EU storefronts. A swift response, though we can’t say it was entirely unexpected considering Sony was also very quick to remove Mercury when a savegame exploit surfaced for the PSPgo years back.

This comes despite the fact that the exploit code still has yet to be released in the wild. Wololo noted that he’ll have it ready for public consumption within a few days, coming in the form of a Vita-tailored Homebrew Loader (VHBL). Evidently Sony isn’t taking chances when it comes to hackers fiddling with their new baby. That means those who haven’t already downloaded and installed the game are essentially out of luck.

G.Rev Readying PlayStation Vita Version of Senko no Ronde
l_4f50bd7c4fd41.jpg

G.Rev held its latest streaming web event today. While 3DS shooter Kokuga was one of the main focuses of the event, the studio also announced PlayStation Vita support. It's first game will be a new entry in the Senko no Ronde shooting series, with plans for a release in 2013.

In comments shared with the press after the broadcast, director Hiroyuki Maruyama said that today's announcement was just notice that they've decided to develop the game. They're currently at the planning level. However, the framework for the game has been mostly finalized.

Maruyama believes the final product will end up being greatly different from past entries in the series. He even said that they may end up not using the Senko no Ronde name.

Next week's PlayStation Vita Game Heaven web broadcast promises to deliver lots of new Vita-related announcements. And here's the first one: download content for Shinobido 2.

Acquire updated the Shinobido 2 official blog today with notice that details on the game's next round of download content will be announced during the broadcast.

This is the first news to "leak" out from the event. Sony is also promising new game announcements, so we can probably look forward to more than just download content updates.

PlayStation Vita Gets Robot Gal Golf on March 29

At_0001.jpg

Gal fishing will have to wait. So will gal mahjong. Gal golf with robots? Yeah, you're going to have to wait for that too.

@Field, Sonic Powered's PlayStation Vita game that somehow blends golf, pinball, gals, and robots was previously delayed beyond its original February release time frame. Today, retailer HMV listed a new March 29 date. The game will carry a ¥3,990 price.

How easy is it to port PS3 games to Vita?

We ask developers from Capcom, Arc System Works, Ubisoft and Team Ninja.

The Vita is inarguably the most powerful handheld on the market. Much of the console's launch line-up has consisted of PlayStation 3 ports - but just how easy is it to adapt games for Sony's new platform?

To find out, we spoke to developers from Capcom, Arc System Works, Ubisoft and Team Ninja...
[Spoil]
Ryota Niitsuma - director of Marvel vs Capcom 3 (Capcom)

How did you find the experience of porting to Vita? Was it easier or harder than what you expected?

It's definitely not easy! Fortunately Capcom has an excellent development engine, the MT Framework, which enabled us to achieve great things. We had to think about how to make the product as interesting as possible given the innovating new features on the Vita. Given the tight deadlines, this was a fun challenge.

I've not been involved in a port before, so I can't compare it with another one - though I personally found it fairly easy. The difficulty comes from the different features the Vita boasts, which had to be taken into account.

In terms of trying to emulate the PS3-based experience, what are the most challenging technical aspects to work around?

By a long shot, the graphics. The graphics needed a lot of work in order to get them to run to the Vita's high specs. From playing the game, you can see they are beautiful.

The biggest strength for the Vita has to be the high specifications - it'll be interesting to see what developers create over its lifecycle. Up until now, there were many different factors we had to consider differently from console hardware – this wasn't so much the case with the Vita.

Has your experience with the Vita encouraged you with regards to working with the machine again in the future?

I was one of the first developers to work on the Vita at Capcom, and from UMvC3 I've got many more ideas for the platform! We had to cut out some of the features which we wanted to implement into UMvC3 Vita, but hey, they can be saved for the next Vita game.

Osamu Sugiyama - director of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend (Arc System Works)

How did you find the experience of porting to Vita? Was it easier or harder than what you expected?

The PS Vita has very high specs and we were surprised at how much PS3 data we could easily reuse on the PS Vita. The PS Vita has numerous features and we feel that this console has broadened the spectrum of games that we can develop.

In terms of trying to emulate the PS3-based experience, what are the most challenging technical aspects to work around?

The most challenging aspect was achieving 60 FPS. Although the Vita has very high specs, it is still not as powerful as the PS3. It was difficult to optimise the graphics (GPU) so that we could achieve the framerate we wanted without losing picture quality.

At the early stages of development, when we had just ported the PS3 version on the PS Vita, the FPS was more than 10 times slower than the current retail version. We managed to realise the current quality by optimizing (i.e. multithreading) all processes related to the CPU/GPU, and we reached a result which is very close - almost identical - to the PS3 version of BlazBlue.

Has your experience with the Vita encouraged you with regards to working with the machine again?

Yes. Since BBEX was mostly a straight port, there are many Vita functions that we haven't yet used that we'd like to explore - for example, Near and AR. We are interested in developing new games using these functions.

Boujemaa El Hiba - Producer of Rayman Origins (Ubisoft Montpelier)

How did you find the experience of porting to Vita? Was it easier or harder than what you expected?

Porting Rayman Origins to the Vita was a very enjoyable experience, and was actually easier than expected. Developing on a new console is always something challenging but also motivating. The Vita's performance and a mature SDK allowed us to reach the high quality level we targeted.

When you are porting a game to a handheld, you always have to take advantage of the console's capabilities by introducing new features that respect the DNA of the original game. That's exactly what we did with Rayman Origins on PS Vita.

In terms of trying to emulate the PS3-based experience, what are the most challenging technical aspects to work around?

One of the most challenging aspects was to bring this gorgeous and full HD experience to a handheld console screen. Fortunately, the Vita's screen is amazing. One thing that we could add that wasn't in the PS3 version is multi-touch to zoom in to the action and take a closer look at those beautiful graphics.

Has your experience with the Vita encouraged you with regards to working with the machine again?

Yes! During the development we had tons of ideas about how to use other features and capabilities that we would like to develop for future games on PS Vita.

Yosuke Hayashi, director of Ninja Gaiden Sigma (Team Ninja)

How did you find the experience of porting to Vita? Was it easier or harder than what you expected?

The Vita has very high performance for a handheld, so the porting was much simpler than we thought. The time we saved on the actual porting gave us more room to focus on the actual development work for adding brand new features exclusive to Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus.

In terms of trying to emulate the PS3-based experience, what are the most challenging technical aspects to work around?

Possibly the graphics. We had to customize shaders and effect systems for the Vita in order to keep the visuals on par.

The way we went about this is we divided the team into two sections. The first was the team that made sure that the graphics and animation were properly recreated on the Vita. The second made sure that the AI and cutscenes, all the internal elements, performed the same way as on the PS3.

What are the Vita's main strengths as a platform?

It has to be the beautiful OLED screen, and the power of the CPU. One more thing is the rear touch pad. This feature is not available anywhere else, so it gives developers many unique opportunities to explore many new ideas with this feature.

Has your experience with the Vita encouraged you with regards to working with the machine again?

Since Team NINJA is very particular about graphics and visual aesthetics in its games, Vita is a great piece of hardware, so we would like to explore it more. The rear touch pad has a lot of possibilities to make games that much more fun, so we are looking forward to exploring that.

One more thing we would like to do is explore the network functionality more. We haven't done this in Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus, but we would love to see what we can do with multiplayer.

Dust 514 won't be the same experience on PS3 as it is on Vita

dust514.jpg

On Vita, at least to begin with, Dust 514 will be a companion app for the PS3 game.

"On Vita we will have a companion app," clarified Dust 514 executive producer Brandon Laurino in an interview with Eurogamer.

"At the most basic level, you can do transactions on the market; equip and customise your character, your vehicles; set up strategies with your friends and Corporation members - all of these sort of companion functions on the go.

"We're also exploring all of the super fun exciting stuff - interesting gameplay opportunities and things like that. But we're not ready to talk about that."
'Dust 514 Vita will be a companion app' Screenshot dust

Dust might be faithfully replicated on Vita one day.

Dust 514 on Vita will be continually updated post-launch, just as Dust 514 will be on PS3.

"As we continue to explore what the possibilities are, between Vita and PS3, of which there are many, we'll keep updating the app with stuff like that over time."

But, no, you definitely won't be running around shooting people in Dust 514 Vita when the companion app launches.

When Dust 514 will launch on PS3 isn't set in stone yet. There's still testing to be done. But it will be a 2012 launch, Laurino confirmed.

"As we continue to explore what the possibilities are, between Vita and PS3, of which there are many, we'll keep updating the app with stuff like that over time."

Brandon Laurino

Will Dust 514 appear on Vita at the same time? "We haven't decided that yet."

MotorStorm RC Driving to PS Vita for FREE, Courtesy of Scion

Back in November, we revealed that Evolution Studios was working on a new title, MotorStorm RC, which would be released in the US as a downloadable game for both the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Vita.
The game received critical praise when it launched in the UK two weeks ago. We think you’ll agree that the wait was worth it, as we are pleased to not only announce that the PS3 version will be available beginning tomorrow separately for $9.99 ($7.49 for PlayStation Plus subscribers), but to also let you know that the PS Vita version of MotorStorm RC will also be available as a free download thanks to our partners at Scion.

New Gust Title in Next Dengeki PlayStation

Will the next Atelier game be announced in the coming weeks?

Adding more "fuel" to the "fire," Dengeki PlayStation flying getters are reporting that this week's issue of the magazine promises a first look at a new Gust title for its next issue.

Dengeki PlayStation is biweekly. That means information from the next issue will probably leak out on the 20th.

The fire Dengeki's promise is fueling concerns strong hints that a Gust stage show planned for Dengeki's upcoming fan festival in Akihabara will see a new title announcement. With Atelier series director Yoshito Okamura set to appear at the event, the popular speculation is that we'll get news of the next main entry in the Atelier series following Atelier Meruru, which was itself announced at the same Dengeki event last year.

The Dengeki fan festival will be held on the 18th, timed nicely for a more lengthy reveal in the following Dengeki PlayStation.

hỵ vọng cho Vita, btw when is 'Arlands' on Vita?????
