CSG_FC immediately set off pressing their opponents. After a fine move down the middle Jafar Hendrawan nearly gave the home side one up in the 1st minute. The finishing shot went just wide, though. At this time in the match, CSG_FC were using their skills at the press to successfully put pressure on their opponents. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, CSG_FC's Fabricio Blasco got himself booked. Saigon took the lead in the 23rd minute of the game by 1 to 0, as Roger Ljungborg elegantly received a pass going deep, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. The teams went for a half-time break at 1 - 0. This part of the game had been a standoff between the teams.
CSG_FC got a chance to level the score as Caetano Caçador suddenly found himself free with the goaltender but the finishing shot hit the bar. A bit later, a magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Saigon´s Lajos Akácz putting the lead up to 2 - 0. After 75 minutes Jafar Hendrawan put Saigon ahead 3 - 0 as he rose to head in a hooked ball, the result of an effort from the right side. After this Saigon lowered the tempo in order to concentrate on their defensive efforts. Henrik Faltorp really should have scored when he was chosen by fate to confront a wide open goal following a great play by Nilsinho Bizarro after a corner. Caetano Caçador could´ve grabbed a goal in the 80:th minute when he got a pass putting him free of the home side´s defence, but he was unable to take advantage of the situation. No one team arose to dominate this half, ending in a deadlock.
Saigon's best player was Tore Fallund. Stefan Oskarsson on the other hand, had a terrible day. CSG_FC's best player was Vassilis Themelios. However, Santo Petrosino made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 3 - 0.
