According to the game's creators, it was necessary to return to the world of Final Fantasy XIII because there were so many loose ends that needed tying up. According to Lightning Returns Battle Director Yuji Abe, all of the characters either are burdened by guilt or have a deep emotional wound.

"We revamped the title logo because we wanted to convey the 'newness' of this installment," explained Kitase. "Traditionally, the Final Fantasy series logo can be characterized by a delicate, yet bold illustration that is placed within the logo. However, this time our intention was to present a newness using an emblem with sharp edges and a symmetrical design."

Game vẫn dựa trên tính năng cùa 2 bản XIII trước.

The logo change and the various artistic inspirations, of course, doesn't mean that the game's previous look was thrown out the window. From what Square Enix says, it wasn't. The basis for the game's visual aesthetic is the previous two FFXIII titles. "With the concept of illustrating a dying world as our foundation, we are depicting how technology is slowly deteriorating," Kamikokuryo explained. "While we had illustrated a very high-level modern civilization in FFXIII, we are giving it a more retro feel in this installment."

The game's director, Motomu Toriyama, decided to go with a "world driven" title, something that Square Enix says will obviously give players far more freedom. However, within that freedom, there is a clever constraint: a time mechanic that ticks away the minutes and hours. When the feature was first revealed, gamers were quick to point out the similarities between it and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. "I'm afraid I have never played The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, and so I won't be able to explain the difference," said Abe. "However, based on my past experiences with The Legend of Zelda titles, the motif may happen to seem similar, but I believe the two titles are nothing like each other."

Game hoàn thành 30% - phần đồ họa làm nhanh nhất

"Creating the graphics goes by fairly quickly, because of our past experience," says Abe. "But in terms of the game itself, we as a team don't have much experience on creating a game in which things move so freely, so I predict we'll be going through a lot of trial and error, especially for each idea we want to incorporate." That being said, Square Enix previously announced a 2013 release (in Japan, apparently) for the PS3 and Xbox 360, so hopefully, the game will hit that release. Last month, Square Enix revealed that development was thirty percent complete.

-Something "different" about Agni's Philosophy will be shown in June 2013 (E3?), on "something other than PC". Based on the guy's smile, it's clearly next-gen platforms.

-Lightning Returns: Development is quite advanced, they're currently showing it to focus groups to find out which element they should concentrate on to please fans. Also, he said that on a technological level, Versus XIII elements were used for this game. It will keep some elements from FFXIII/XIII-2 but will be quite different from every FF that's come out so far.

-Type-0: No plan as of now, but they'd like to localize it eventually. (same old news -.-)

-Versus XIII: Definitely still in development. The project is very, very ambitious according to this guy, and that is why it's taken so long. He says once the project will be fully revealed, people will be happy to have waited so long. Also, Yoichi Wada is determined to push the development team as far as they can.

-FFXIV: He praises Yoshida's direction of the project, says it will be "quite different" from the original FFXIV. He also says that people from S-E outside of Japan also believe in the project, that it's not a "Japan-only" thing (whatever that means).

-Asked what games he was eager to play, he said he was going to try out all the big open-world/sandbox games. He thinks "many Square-Enix IPs" would benefit from more openness, and from a storytelling that's less linear. He wants to take inspiration from games like GTA5 to be able to help the company achieve this on a technological level.

The December 2012 issue of German magazine iOS GameZone contained an interview with Hiroyuki Ito. The interview was mainly about the iOS game Guardian Cross and how it has become popular in Germany. Hiroyuki Ito clarified that he only created the game design, wrote the base story and supervised the game's development; he did not produce or direct the game.[47]

After asking a series of questions about Guardian Cross, the interviewer then asked questions related to the Final Fantasy series. He asked Hiroyuki Ito why he has not worked on any Final Fantasy games since the release of Final Fantasy XII, citing the game as being mature and complex and breathing new life into the Final Fantasy series. Hiroyuki Ito replied that he's been busy leading development of an unannounced, large-scale project since 2008.[47] The interviewer then asked when this project will be announced. Hiroyuki Ito replied that he doesn't know as Square Enix president, Yoichi Wada has delayed the announcement until Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is released worldwide and gains a certain amount of subscribers.[47] The interviewer asked if this unannounced game was a Final Fantasy game. Hiroyuki Ito laughed and replied, "You'll find out when the game is announced."[47]

On a separate point, the interviewer asked Hiroyuki Ito if the Active Dimension Battle (ADB) system will ever be used again seeing as Final Fantasy XIII never used it. Hiroyuki Ito replied that ADB is alive and that he's preparing its evolution.[47] The interviewer then asked Hiroyuki Ito if he has played Xenoblade Chronicles due to the battle system being clearly influenced by ADB. Hiroyuki Ito replied that he has played the game and that he was impressed with the scale of the world and found the underlying mechanics of the battle system to be interesting.[47]

The interview concluded by the interviewer asking what's next for the Guardian Cross series. Hiroyuki Ito replied that it has been really successful in some countries and a disappointment in others. He hopes that word of mouth of the game continues to spread and it keeps gaining in popularity.[47] He added that he's considering adding Guardian Cross connectivity to his unannounced, large-scale game. Player's will be able to connect their Guardian Cross accounts to the game and challenge the NPCs in the world and also enter tournaments in the various cities.

FF 15 confirm
