Ico Shown Running On PS Vita (remote play)

Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony Worldwide Studios and a prolific tweeter, has just posted the picture above.

As you can see it shows PS2 title Ico, from the infamous Team Ico, on a Vita and considering the source I think we can assume that the game will be making an appearance on Sony’s latest portable at some point.

It would seem, in all likeliness, that the image is in fact showing off Ico working over the Vita’s Remote Play feature, with the game listed as one of those that Sony would be making available along with God of War, God of War II and Shadow of the Colossus.

As for when Ico or any of the other games will actually be available? No date has yet been announced for any of them sadly, but we’ll update if more information arrives.

Capcom Looking into Other Hardware For Monster Hunter Frontier

Capcom's large scale online Monster Hunter game Monster Hunter Frontier has been limited to PC and Xbox 360 until now. That could at long last be changing, though.

This week's Famitsu has a report on Monster Hunter Frontier G, the Frontier update that was announced late last week. According to Sinobi, who gets Famitsu in advance, the magazine has word that Capcom is looking positively at the possibility of bringing the game to other platforms as well.

The Monster Hunter Frontier G report is accompanied by a look at Monster Hunter 4

Usermode Vita Loader - Vita hacked .... somehow

ju1UgDAOeI4mM.jpg

Sure, running PSP homebrews on Vita is fun, and VHBL is a very nice piece of work, but it’s about time we move on, isn’t it?
Developer yifanlu started a new project called Usermode Vita Loader (UVLoader), it will be a homebrew loader for the PSV, basically.
Not PSP homebrews, but native PSV code, isn’t it awesome?

This project is based on a PSV exploit he found (there are no details about this for now, for obvious reasons), but it’s still in its early stages.
Just a few lines of code have been written so far (you can find the code on his github), so, back to the title, developers are needed.
If you’re a developer and you want to help, fork the project on github or get in touch with yifanlu on /talk or on IRC (#vitadev on EFnet).

If you’re not a developer, there’s nothing for you…yet. But it’s still an awesome news, isn’t it?
And please, avoid asking useless questions: there’s no release date yet and it doesn’t work for now, just be patient for now and let the developers do their job.

Yifan Lu will eventually post updates about this project on his blog or on twitter, so make sure to follow him.

Last but not least, congratulations to yifanlu for his Vita hack :)

According to Yifan Lu, it is technically impossible to run ROMS. Direct quote:

"You can load homebrews but it is physically and technically impossible to load ISOs/backups/pirated content/roms since we don’t have kernel access. In addition those stuff are encrypted and we also need kernel access to even think about decrypting."

Loading ROMS in HBL for PSP works though, but i'm not sure if it has kernel access or not.

It's a user mode hack. Which means people can't use it to pirate Vita games.

But they can use it to run homebrew, emulators of the Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, AMIGA, MAME and such, at full speed.

How to play Shadow of the Colossus on PS Vita via Remote Play
STEP 1:
On your PS3, plop in the Blu-ray for the game you want to stream, and load it up once to download the Remote Play patch.

Once you've installed the patch, exit the game by pressing the PlayStation button and choosing 'Quit'.

STEP 2:

Navigate to the 'Settings' pane on your PS3, and choose 'Remote Play Settings'.

Find 'register device' and choose PS Vita. You'll be given a numerical code, so leave it up on the screen.

STEP 3

Pick up your Vita, go to the main menu, and find the 'Remote Play' bubble. Tap on this, and you'll be asked to insert the code from your PS3. Type it in, and your two consoles are now connected.

You won't need to do this every time you play - it's just so the two consoles will be able to find each other.

STEP 4:
Back to PS3 now. Go over to the 'Network' bar and choose 'Remote Play'. This will make the console ready for the Vita to connect to.

STEP 5:
Still in the Remote Play app on your Vita? Good. Choose 'Connect via private network'. After a little bit of loading, you should see your PS3's XrossMediaBar on your Vita. Hooray.

You can now watch videos, listen to music, use PlayTV, play PSone games, and use a small selection of Remote Play-enabled games.
how-to-remote-play-05

STEP 6:
On the Vita, select the Blu-ray for your Remote Play-enabled game, and load it up.

You may be asked to choose a different button configuration. This essentially lets you reassign the PS Vita's missing buttons (like L2 and R2). To do this, tap the screen and hit the toolbox button.

You either want button Type 2 (where you hit a combination of buttons to gain access to those missing buttons) or button Type 3 (where sections of the rear touch panel become buttons).

Once you're done, exit the 'Settings' menu to play the game.

STEP 7( thực sự ko cần):

Want to play from a little farther away?

First, go to the 'Remote Play' settings on your PS3 and turn on Remote Start. This means you can turn on your PS3 from halfway around the world, using your Vita.

Remember that your PS3 can be turned off, but it still needs to be connected to an active power source and be in standby mode.

Then, grab your Vita and fly to another continent. We'll wait.

Done? Okay, go into the Remote Play app, but this time choose 'Connect via Internet'. If you're hooked up to a wi-fi connection, you'll see your PS3 pop up on the screen.

đã làm và chơi GOW thử, nhận xét là chạy mượt nhưng hình chưa đẹp như PS3 >:)

Let’s Fish! Hooked On Aims To Reel In PS Vita Gamers
Being our first, exclusive, collaboration with Sony, we are extremely proud to bring you Let’s Fish! Hooked On, the first full-scale fishing game on PS Vita, coming this autumn. So, being given the opportunity to speak directly to real gamers, we decided to share the game’s first screenshots and artwork here.

7974568952_64e71cbfdd_z.jpg

Let’s Fish! Hooked On, which was originally released in Japan, is developed by renowned Tokyo-based studio SIMS, whose games include SEGA Bass Fishing and PSP launch title Ape Escape. If you hadn’t guessed already, Let’s Fish! Hooked On also has beautifully illustrated anime style artwork – designed by well-known Japanese artist Poyoyon Rock (whose most recent character design artwork was used for the manga series The World God Only Knows).

The game combines realistic fishing action with fast arcade-style gameplay and comes complete with a full story mode, which aims to make fishing fun for everyone. Choosing between four different characters, each with their own storyline and unique skills, players are challenged to improve their skills and become World Champion by competing in a host of progressively more difficult tournaments on the World Tour.

The game is split into four different game modes: World Tour – with its character-driven storyline, Challenge – quick bursts of fishing action with online rankings, Training – to help develop your skills, and Underwater Mode, which lets you view your prized catches, all of which are designed to make use of PS Vita’s impressive features.

7974569463_a99dfbfc26_o.jpg
7974570261_f1baf52a9a.jpg

The intertwining — and often humorous — relationships between the game’s characters drives the story, as you see just how much fun fishing can be using PS Vita’s touchscreen and rear touch pad.

For more hardcore fishing fans there are nine different kinds of fish to catch – including bass, trout and salmon – and 240 lures to earn across 11 themed outdoor stages, but the game’s arcade tendencies mean it’s fast and fun to play and has more than enough to keep you entertained, whether you know your Rainbow Trout from your King Salmon or not.

Lots more screenshots, artwork and videos will be released in the coming weeks, along with the game’s release date. In the meantime, follow us on Facebook and on Twitter for all the latest news and competitions.

We hope you’ll be hooked later this year! Thanks for your time. *Flips tail*

Randy Pitchford still dreaming of Borderlands 2 on Vita

Borderlands-2-Hands-On-Preview-E3-2012.jpg

A Vita version of Borderlands 2 still isn’t completely out of the question. Gearbox president Randy Pitchford told IGN that his studio wouldn’t be able to make the port by itself, but still showed a great deal of interest in the idea.

Pitchford said that it may be possible based on the following:

“If some other studio was capable and could be trusted by us, and by a publishing partner, and by Sony, and someone wanted to invest in making that happen? I think Sony should step up and make that happen.”

One big reason for Pitchford’s interest in Borderlands 2 on Vita is because he sees big potential in cloud saving with the PS3 game.

Pitchford will be meeting with Sony in the near future to discuss how he can proceed further with his proposal.

'Tokyo Game Show Detectives' brings PS Vita augmented reality contest to TGS

tgsvt10.jpg

Tokyo Game Show attendees who bring their PlayStation Vita to the show will be able to take part in an augmented reality game, Tokyo Game Show Detectives: Find the Missing Female Spy, at Sony's booth this year.

Tokyo Game Show Detectives is a free application that can be downloaded from the Japanese PlayStation Store. Using the Vita's AR features, players must track down the spy — disguised as one of the many attentive booth "companions" — by scanning the PlayStation booth for clues.

Those who successfully identify the spy will have a chance to win 2,000 yen in credit from the PlayStation Store.

Sony has another AR game playable at the show, Box! Open Me. According to a translation from Wired, players can request a brochure from Sony's PlayStation booth, letting them play a preview of the game. Box! Open Me, from PlayStation C.A.M.P. and Sony, will be released as a downloadable title from the PlayStation Store.

Polygon will be on the Tokyo Game Show floor, PlayStation Vitas in hand, hunting down female spys.

Dokuro coming to North America next month

Dokuro-PSN-Oct.jpg

Dokuro, GungHo Online Entertainment and Game Arts’ PlayStation Vita side-scroller, is coming to North America via PlayStation Network next month.

The game follows Dokuro, a skeleton man who rebels against his boss the Dark Lord after falling in love with the princess the Lord kidnaps to marry. You’ll need to get the princess from point A to point B across traps, pitfalls, etc. as you guide her to the exit of the Dark Lord’s castle. (She has no sense of danger, by the way.) As you progress, you’ll gain new abilities, such as “Hero Transformation” mode, in which turns Dokuro into a handsome-looking prince-type man. The game is centered around the themes of “unrequited love and tireless devotion.”

Sony holding TGS conference next week

Sony has confirmed that it will hold its annual conference at the Tokyo Game Show next week. The event is set for “The day before doors open”, so I assume that’ll be Friday at 1:00 PM Japan time. There won’t be a stream on the PlayStation Blog, but news will be posted on the site following the end of the presentation.
