Denim Powell (Mown)
Bacrum
His real name is Denim Mown. He used to believe that he was Walstanian, but found out that he is really Bacrumese. Mown is the leader of a Knight Battalion that eventually replaces the Walsta Liberation Army, which he was once a member of. His decisions during the events at Baramus greatly influence what happens in the rest of the game.
If Denim chooses to go along with the Duke's plan to massacre the villagers of Baramus, then he remains in the Liberation Army as a high-ranking officer, until Duke Ronway (and almost Denim himself) is assassinated by Leonard. After Duke Ronway's death, Denim's Knight Battalion emerges as the primary Liberation force in Valeria, fighting against the remaining Gargastan troops, the Bacrumese troops, and eventually the Roslolian Dark Knights. Denim and his Battalion manage to triumph over all of these groups.
If Denim refuses to go along with the Duke's orders, then he is branded a fugitive, being the one who is blamed for the massacre. Constantly on the run with his sister Kachua, he eventually finds his way back to Amorika Castle after Kachua is kidnapped. Once there, he confronts his old friend, Vice, and they fight until Leonard breaks the fight up. At this point, Denim again has a game-altering decision to make--to rejoin or not to rejoin the Walsta Liberation Army. If he refuses, then he continues his life of hiding from bounty hunters and now Leonard, who is assigned the task of hunting him down. Eventually, Leonard and Denim meet, and Denim emerges victorious. Duke Ronway is assassinated shortly after, and Denim then takes his Battalion and leads them into war with the Bacrumese and the Roslolians.
If Denim does rejoin the Walsta Liberation Army though, he is welcomed back into the ranks, and is ordered to hunt down Vice, who had since left the Army as a result of Denim's rejoining. Denim ends up confronting and killing a major Knight of the Roslolians, and as a result, Duke Ronway decides to attack the Roslolians directly (since all hope for peace was lost due to the dead Dark Knight). On the way to Fiduc to launch the attack, Ronway is assassinated by a battered and bloody Vice. Leonard is killed in the attack on Fiduc Castle, leaving Denim as the sole leader of the Walsta Liberation Army.
Regardless of which path Denim takes, he ends up finding out from his dying father that his sister Kachua is in great danger in the hands of the Roslolians. So Denim and the Liberation Army set out to rescue her. If the attempt to rescue her fails and she dies, Denim is then given the responsibility of ruling Valeria. However, if he is the ruler, the people don't welcome him as warmly as they would have welcomed Kachua, daughter of Dolgare. If he is made king, he is eventually assassinated by an angry Walstanian terrorist while giving a public address. If Kachua lives she becomes ruler, and Denim takes a journey to Zenobia, the land where the Holy Knight Lans was born...

Kachua Powell
Bacrum
Her real name is Bersalia Overis--she is the daughter of the late King Dolgare. She starts out following her brother Denim around everywhere, but then tires of all the fighting and runs away. In the port town of Griate, she is confronted by the Dark Knights and told of her true identity. She then goes with the Dark Knights to Heigm and Banisha. When she is rescued by the Liberation Army at Banisha Castle, she either stabs herself or doesn't, depending on Denim's responses. If she dies, then Denim becomes ruler of Valeria. If she lives, she becomes ruler of Valeria.

Vice Bozeg
Walstanian
Vice is Denim's best friend. Like Denim, Vice's role in the game is vastly determined by which path Denim takes in Baramus.
If Denim refuses to go along with the Duke's orders, then Vice does, becoming evil and gaining a new sadistic look. Personally, I think that they should have had a third guy in this game, so one always did go along with the Duke's plan and one always went against it. It seems rather odd to me that Vice could have such a drastic character change in such a short time. It also seems odd to me that Vice would throw away one of his few friendships (with his best friend for that matter) so easily. There should have been a third guy who was more consistent with this sadistic form of Vice. If Denim refuses to rejoin the Liberation Army at the end of Chapter 2, then Vice goes on to plot the assassination of Duke Ronway and the Dark Knight Lans with Branta. Ronway is betrayed by Vice and is murdered, Lans survives with the help of the Dark Knights Oz and Ozma, and Vice begs for his life. Lans Tartare lets him go and Vice returns to Heigm, only to be betrayed by Bacrum and executed. I thought that that scene for was one of the saddest scenes in the game. I happen to like Vice (the good one, anyway), and I really wasn't happy with what happened to him here. I mean, for crying out loud, I would never let myself be hung--I'd rather die fighting.
If Denim does rejoin the Liberation Army at the end of Chapter 2, Vice leaves the Army. As a result, Duke Ronway put a bounty on Vice's head, and branded him as a fugitive. Vice was captured by the Gargastans and beaten up badly; Vice barely escaped with his life. Just as the Walsta Liberation Army is about to attack Fiduc Castle, Vice assassinates Duke Ronway in Rime. Consequently, he also dies, at the hands of Ronway's soldiers.
If Denim decides to go along with the Duke's plan at Baramus, Vice is a completely different character. He becomes a good guy, and forms the Neo Walsta Liberation Ally, a group fighting against the Walsta Liberation Army and the Gargastans. He vowed to make Denim pay for what happened in Baramus. Archer Aloser Danya joined Vice's troops, but dies at the hands of Denim after she loses her self-control and tries to kill him. After the major battle between the Walsta Liberation Army and the Neo Walsta Liberation Ally (really a battle between Denim and Vice), Vice decided that Denim is not the enemy and formed a temporary "cease fire" with Denim just before the Bacrumese forces invaded Rime. Vice basically saved Denim's life at Amorika, and becomes a major officer in Denim's battalion once Duke Ronway is assassinated. He leads the direct attacking squad in the Swanzi Forest, and suffers some heavy losses, being taken prisoner by Zaebos Rozenbach, Barbatos' right-hand man. Eventually Denim rescues him though, and he, along with the two White Knights and some other assistants, joins Denim's group of soldiers. In this route, Vice is one of my favorite characters, and this seems to be a more realistic change for him, as opposed to his other self on the other paths.

Lans Hamilton
Zenobian
[img/http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/1/15999/474794-art_09_large.jpg[/img]
Lans Hamilton is one of the veterans from Ogre Battle. Being one of King Tristan's Zenobian Holy Knights, he and his men were sent on a secret mission to retrieve Fenril's Holy Sword, the Brunhild, under the guise that they had been exiled and had become mercenaries.
During Bacrum's attack on Rime, Lans nobly defended the town, but was eventually overcome and taken prisoner by the Dark Knights. He was kept in an underground jail in Heigm Castle for a long time, and when he was finally rescued, there was something very different about him...
