HERO
Global messages are sent to allies whenever a hero dies, regardless of who kills it. It goes by the format: <Hero Name> the <Hero Type> (Hero Level) has fallen. For Example: Marn Thunderhorn the Tauren Chieftain (level 5) has fallen.
Hero Items have 75 hit points
***Extremely Bad Hero Rushers
Paladin (laugh whenever you see this
Each Hero can carry a maximum of six items. Certain Non-Heroes can carry up to two items. The Orc Kodo Beast can carry 4 items
Hero walk speed is capped at 400
***Reduced Spell Damage
Spell damage versus Heroes is reduced by 30%.
Creeping/Fighting Separately from your Hero
Heroes can gain experience separately from other units in your army. For example some Footmen can be killing some Creeps across the map while your Archmage is back in town buying things at the Arcane Vault while still gaining experience. Other possibilities include using a Hero to harass an enemy town while your army is off Creeping at the same exact time.
Knowing this information, it's a newbie mistake to send your whole army somewhere, when only your Hero is needed. Now you almost always want your Hero in battle with your army, but if you just need to run back and heal or use a shop, just send your Hero. Your units can Creep during that time. As long as you are not ambushed separately from each other, it should be ok. High level players pull this off all the time. You can also use this method with flying units to harass the enemy. Flying units are sometimes better off when they are not slowed down by Heroes. Gryphon Riders could attack an enemy town while your Hero is back at town gaining experience. You can then run away when the enemy responds to the attack.
Losing your Hero to the Creeps
This is very shameful. If the Creeps are attacking your Hero, back off. Watch the battle and control the Hero. Heroes should not die to Creeps.
TOWN PORTAL
Town Portal Scroll Feints
Sometimes, experienced players will perform hit-and-run attacks early in the game for the purpose of making you waste your Town Portal Scroll. In team games, they can do this by having both players of the team send in a few units to give the appearance of a double team (or more with more allies) while the attack is really a fake attack designed to cause you to waste your Town Portal Scroll(s). The feinting players will then attack another location now that you've been drawn away. Make sure the enemy is sending their full force before using your Town Portal Scroll!
Placing more than 5 Human Peasants or Orc Peons on a Gold Mine
Five is the maximum number of units that can mine depending on what direction the town hall is placed. If you place more than 5, they will stack up and won't be actually doing anything. Using these extra workers to mine ties up supply and can push a player to higher Upkeep levels for no reason. However, on some maps and positions the Town Hall may be placed too far from the Gold Mine which could require as many as 6 or 7 Peons to mine the Gold Mine. Make sure you have enough workers to mine a Gold Mine effectively.
Attacking the enemy in a position to enemy's advantage
Don't attack the enemy if they have towers to support them, or are using a Fountain of Life,
or are on high ground while you are on low ground. Avoid fighting the enemy if you don't have enough room to get all your forces attacking the enemy (such as fighting in narrow areas)
Not using Neutral Buildings
Neutral Buildings are very powerful and should be used throughout the course of the game. As you learn more about their purpose, you can learn more about how to integrate them into your gameplay.
Undead: Not Healing Undead Units
Undead units only heal while standing on Blight, however some units have other possibilities to heal themselves: Ghouls and Abominations can research Cannibalize (it needs corpses, so bring a Meat Wagon to the units if there are no corpses around). Crypt Fiends can research Burrow which also allow them to heal, and finally Gargoyles can turn into Stone Form. There are other possibilities such as Obsidian Statues' Essence of Blight, Death Knight's Death Coil and Unholy Aura or Hero Items : Scroll of Healing and Healing Wards (only available at neutral buildings) offer a way to heal your army
Vài thuật ngữ điển hình
GG
Good Game. If players say GG too early it is a sarcastic way of saying you have lost and the game is over. It can also mean that the player who said it is admiting that they have lost.
GL HF
Good Luck. Have Fun.
LOL
Lots of Laugh or Laughing Out Loud. This abbreviation indicates something is really funny. Unfortunately although very common, that term became uncool a long long long time ago. Other alternatives that you can use instead are "hehehehe" or "hahahaha" which aren't the best but are more hip. ROFL should also be avoided to appear cool.
Macromanagement (Macro)
To focus time on creating new buildings, researching upgrades, expanding, and training units. To focus on Macro typically means to let battles fight themselves or to ignore units in combat while focusing on building, training, and expanding.
Micromanagement (Micro)
To focus time on controlling individual units in battle. When someone "has good micro" they are good at controlling their troops.
***N00b
An incredibly uncool way to say newb. Don't use it.
Creeping
The process of clearing out Creeps for experience, gold, and items
Rush
A Rush originally meant a very early attack. Over the years its meaning has been twisted to an attack at any point of the game or an attack with a lot of units. Some players have different definitions of 'Rush'.
Buff
A Buff is a beneficial spell cast on a unit. An example of a "buff" is the Priest's Inner Fire or Shaman's Bloodlust.
De-Buff
A De-Buff is a negative spell cast on a unit that makes it less powerful. An example of a "de-buff" is the Banshee's Curse, Druid of the Talon's Faerie Fire, or Sorceress' Slow.
