How many of you have ever wanted to participate in the FIFA World Cup tournament? I know I have, but unfortunately we can't all be gifted soccer super stars. However, we do have children's card games and the ability to represent our countries.
I introduce you the very first Dueling Network World Cup. This will be a series of tournaments and matches held throughout a period of time all leading up to the big event:
Dueling Network's 2011 World Cup.
The events leading up to the big tournament are divided into three phases: The selection, Qualifying, and finally the tournament. If you are interested in representing your country in this tournament make sure to read the following rules:
The selection:
If you are unaware every four years every nation gets to select the top players from their corresponding countries to play in the national team. For this tournament we will decide who gets to represent their countries by holding a knock-off tournament of 8-16 people each (less if there aren't enough participants from that country). We know there are a lot of people from the same country so more than one person may be able to represent their cointries during the big tournament.
To represent your country you must simply state which country you want to represent. Preferably make it the country that you are from, but you may also represent another country if you do not wish to represent your own country. From there we will pair up people from the same countries and place them in tournaments so they can earn the right to be the only representatives of their country.
Qualification:
Qualifying for the big tournament will come after Five tournaments are held based on the regions you are from, and however many selected players we have. Each tournament will have a specific amount of berths depending on how many countries are in the qualifying pool. The regions are as follows:
UEFA (Europe)
CAF (Africa)
AFC and OFC (Asia and Oceania)
CONMEBOL (South America)
CONCACAF (North and Central America in addition to the Caribbean)
Once the berths are decided each region will get a certain amount of players going to the big tournament. For example if there are 4 berths coming out of UEFA the top four players from the UEFA tournament will automatically participate in the world cup.
The World Cup:
The world cup tournament is the most prestigious tournament we'll hold this summer and perhaps this year because it takes a lot of effort to make it in and win it. The world cup tournament will be essentially the same thing as the FIFA world cup. Each country representative will be placed into groups of four for the group round. Then proceed to a knock off tournament after that. More details on the world cup tournament will be posted later.
