Is0’s Ruling: Tea Guilt - 13/09/08
For the past few days, citizens have been going crazy expressing their opinions in the city center. The message boards have been flooded with speculations of conspiracy, wrong doing, neglect, and a possible misunderstanding as to why the, now infamous, citizen, Tea [32013] has been scheduled for deportation within the year. Citizens have been debating each other over the matter and now city officials are cracking down on settling the dust on this touchy subject.
Days ago, Tea was placed in federal jail to await his private court hearing over his stay in Torn City. Just after 230 billion dollars was placed in the care of Tea, a very wealthy investor, he was arrested. In his possession was billions of dollars from other well-known and wealthy investors such as Gargoyle [108957], JimmyJames [581165], nAimA [99472], thepeon [356975], and a number of other citizens. Never has there ever been an arrest made so public with so many effected by this outcome. And for that, Mayor Chedburn has allowed the verdict to be made announced as well as the reason for Tea’s arrest.
Rumors flooded the minds of readers with thoughts of staff corruption and conspiracy. Timing, who was arrested and whose money the arrested party was holding was taken into consideration when citizens flared these allegations. City Official is0lati0n [37763], has been in charge of determining whether or not Tea would stay within the city limits.
After days of questioning and deliberation, is0lati0n announced in the city center, the final verdict on the Torn City Tea Party case. Stated in his announcement was that the citizen in question purchased his social security number (or, player account) which is an illegal and punishable offense. No citizen is allowed to pose as someone else by any means whether the citizen’s number was stolen or sold/purchased. During the interview, is0lati0n stated that specific questions were proposed to Tea that only the account creator would know, however, they were not answered correctly and therefore he was found guilty of all charges filed against him.
One policy that the city staff members are honoring is that there will be no return of any money that Tea was holding for anyone; for any reason. More than just a few citizens were hurt in this arrest as their life savings were in the hands of this investor. Some citizens have left the city in search of new wealth while investors like JimmyJames, Hijinx [608979] and sindree [657991] are selling all of their assets in order to repay their personal investors. JimmyJames stated that he has no intention of leaving Torn City and will work as hard as he can to pay those who lost their money back. In search for further comments regarding the situation, JimmyJames was unable to be reached because he was at work.
Through his announcement in the city center, is0lati0n also stated that he had no problems with how his colleagues reacted to the report. However, he was disheartened on how the citizens reacted with slander, and innuendos. When asked to give an additional statement on these events, is0lati0n stated the following,
“Unlike people I've dealt with in the past, regardless of what the citizen’s views are, from what I see and deal with, Leukybear [83808] has always been someone I can count on and depend on, as has -Clansdancer [65306]. If they were as biased and wrong for the position they wouldn't be there and I wouldn’t rely on them as much as I do. People have no idea the amount of work they put into this game or the sacrifices that staff as a whole have made over the years to make this game a better place.
Although people keep calling me unbiased, that makes me feel very awkward because I handle the situation the same as the others do and I don't see that I treat anyone any differently than they do. I've made plenty of mistakes in the past, some big ones, and I'm sure I will again but we learn from our mistakes and it makes us better. We've had a lot of good staff members over the years, which left for their own reasons and it's been a pleasure to work with all of them, past present and future that want to make this game the best it can possibly be. Who knows, some day in the future I could be working with any of you reading this article.
Remember citizens can make a difference too, the older citizens, remember the younger ones look up to you and they see the examples you set and follow them. I've often said to staff, we lead by example, and if you judge me by how I do my job then as a citizen take the lead and set some good examples by offering constructive criticisms. You can tell someone they are wrong or you think they are a screw up and do it tactfully, imagine how much smoother things would run for us all if that happened.”
No matter what the decision made my city officials was, there will still be those who are unhappy and it seems rather difficult to please the masses. Therefore, all that can be suggested of the citizens now is that they move on, rebuild what they have lost and take this event into consideration in the future. Additionally, -Clansdancer has asked that if any citizens are unhappy with these decisions, that you please file a report and/or personally mail the staff members who were involved. Any messages in the city center regarding this matter will promptly be removed.
