My brother-in-law has been battling brain cancer for about a year and a half now. The first tumor was excised last October then he fought his way out of post-op paralysis to damn near full-function over the course of ~6 months. This guy is a real life superhero, but sadly, the cancer returned full force this December.
This guy dedicated his life to helping others. He's probably the most selfless, humble, hardworking person I have ever met, and it's been really frustrating for him to now be confined to a hospice bed in his home. Simply put, he doesn't have much time left. We are so grateful for each new day we have with him, and I want to do everything I can to make his remaining days as enjoyable as possible. All that being said, he is a big Marvel fan and really wants to see Black Panther, but going to the theater, much less leaving the house, is out of the question now.
I might be in the wrong place, but I've seen too many Reddit miracles to not ask to be put in touch with someone who could supply a temporary link or access to a screener? Of course I would appreciate any suggestions or direction. Thank you guys in advance.
edit: my fellow Redditors....I was speechless as I watched this snowball of a thread rapidly grow. My wife and I were both just tearing up in the kitchen reading some of these comments. I am so grateful to for all of the feedback and positivity.
I no longer have social media, but I will revive a couple accounts to reach out to Ryan Coogler, Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios, Michael B Jordan and any other suggestions that you all have provided.
As too many of you have probably experienced, going through something like this with a family member can be a really dark time for all involved. Ideally, we can still make this happen, but just receiving all of your support has been the most uplifting thing I've seen in quite a while and I'm sure it will mean the world to my brother-in-law. Thank you guys!
Edit edit: I really do love Reddit. I really appreciate your suggestions and connections. I was finally able to get access to an old twitter account (for my dog...yes, my dog). If you would like to retweet to help increase visibility,
here it is. For everyone suggesting I sail the high seas to find the movie, I appreciate the feedback, but I spent a considerable amount of time looking for a watchable version and didn't have any luck.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'm able to connect with some of the Marvel/Disney people you all have mentioned, but in the meantime, feel free to retweet or offer up any other suggestions. I never had any idea this post would blow up like it has. The last thing I want to do is inconvenience anyone or draw unnecessary attention, but what's worse: creating a little static online now, or wishing I would have in the future? You all really are the best. Thanks again.
UPDATE: GUYS. YOU DID IT!!!! I am absolutely amazed. As my new best friend
u/angerbang23 has mentioned below, Marvel's outreach team connected with me and we're lining up a viewing time for this weekend. I really am at a loss for words right now. This internet hug has most definitely squeezed the tears out of me.
I am going over to my brother-in-law's house tonight after work, and I cannot wait to tell him the great news. This is so ridiculous. I love you people. I've been a casual fan of Marvel for a long time now but you'd better believe I'm toppling into diehard territory in a hurry. I can't wait to get Black Panther costumes for both of his little ones. I think his daughter may finally be over her Star-Lord mask anyway haha!
In a world that can seem so incredibly negative and divisive, it is individuals like you who inspire optimism in the face of adversity and bring joy to those in the shadows of sadness. Thank you for caring and sharing with me over the past 24 hours. I will continue posting updates, so stay tuned. Until then, keep the positivity going; call someone you care about and tell that person you love them. To every single one of you who reads this: THANK YOU!
