Valkyria Chronicles III not coming to US and Europe

Low sales and localization costs of Valkyria Chronicles II cited as key reasons for Western no-show.

The Valkyria Chronicles series was praised for its bold and fresh strategy role-playing games that were both beautiful to look at and fun to play. Fans of the series will be disappointed to know that Sega is not planning to localize the third game, Valkyria Chronicles III: Unrecorded Chronicles, for North American and European markets.

During a recent interview in Singapore, Sega's team manager of console sales, Hiroshi Seno, confirmed that the game would not be localized due to the PSP platform not being popular and well liked in North America and Europe. He also said that localizing the title for an English-speaking audience would require past games of the franchise to sell a particular quantity; he added that Valkyria Chronicles II did not sell enough to justify localization costs.

When asked whether the game would be out as a downloadable title on the upcoming PlayStation Vita system, Seno said the company would make a concrete decision the next time it meets with Sony. Valkyria Chronicles III sold 102,779 units in its debut week of January 24 in Japan.

In Japan, Square Enix run a manga magazine imprint titled GanGan, which consists of various individual magazines such as Monthly Shounen GanGan and Young GanGan. Both Fullmetal Alchemist and Soul Eater were serialized in Monthly Shounen GanGan.



According to tweets picked up by Japanese blog, Game Jouhou, a new GanGan issue contains information on Final Fantasy Type-0. According to director, Hajime Tabata, the average time to complete Final Fantasy Type-0 the first time is about 40 hours. The second time you play the game, you’ll get to experience a different story involving the game’s Class 0.



Tabata also mentions that there’s an unrevealed thirteenth character in Type-0, and that there are a total of five summons types in the game. We know of six summons so far: Golem, Shiva, Bahamut, Odin, Ifrit and Diablos.

Thông tin cũng cho biết là game vẫn còn 1 nhân vật thứ 13 chưa được công bố và có tổng cộng 5 thể loại summons, trong đó 6 summons đã được công bố là Golem, Shiva, Bahamut, Odin, Ifrit and Diablos.


Ngày 20/10 tới sẽ có bản demo của game Terror of the Stratus. Bản demo sẽ bao gồm level đầu tiên của game. Giá của bản demo này là 200 yen ($2.50). Save của bản demo có thể được sử dụng tiếp ở full game.
