Alone in the Dark, originally known as Alone in the Dark 5 and Alone in the Dark: Near Death Investigation, is the fifth installment of the survival horror video game series under the same name created by Infogrames.
Originally, the film version of Alone in the Dark was to be released with the game; however, the creators of Alone in the Dark, Eden Games, delayed the game and reworked it entirely from scratch, making it seem like the film version of Alone in the Dark appeared to deviate from the Alone in the Dark game franchise save for the fact that the film was in some ways a sequel to Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare. When the game came out, some reviewers had noted that it seems the game borrowed a lot of elements from the movie.
The game was released on Windows, Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation 2 on June 20th 2008 in Europe, with North America's release on June 24th. The PlayStation 3 version has been delayed until "Fall 2008", but this version will be specially adapted for the console and will get exclusive episodic content. The Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions are being developed by Eden Games, but the PS2 and Wii versions are being created alongside by Hydravision Entertainment...
