I know many of you are concerned about what the outcome of this exploit will bring and if there will be a rollback or not. Keep in mind that a rollback is the very last resort Nexon takes to fix a problem such as this. We will not discuss a rollback unless Nexon makes an announcement. They will attempt to track down the exploited items and the players involved and delete them before even thinking of a rollback.
If you are concerned about getting falsely banned, I suggest that you not make any large transactions in game at this time. Also, do not purchase/ sell any of the anniversary items from Inkie at this time. You may want to refrain from turning in items to Cassandra as well.
Again, please refrain from discussing rollbacks or possible permanent bans. You are only spreading fear throughout the MapleStory community by doing so and allowing for more threads to pop up about it. This is a weekend, so I'm not sure how soon the Maple team can give us an update on the situation. I know one thing for sure though. The longer we have to wait, the harder this is going to be to fix.
The hacks for this exploit have become public and therefor are now affecting the economy. You really should refrain from selling or purchasing certain items. You do not want to be caught with exploited items. Most exploiters do get caught and others get away. You do not want to run the risk of getting banned if you didn't even directly contribute to the exploited items.
At this time, there is no reason to panic. We all know this has happened before, and Nexon does an excellent job of taking care of it. A rollback is the last thing they want to do.
However, in the event of a rollback, there are certain things that will happen. (This is only if a rollback is necessary.)
- First off, your characters will be rolled back to an earlier point in time. Most likely before the hack became public, or before a huge number of exploited items were released.
- Any NX spent during this time will either be extended or refunded to you, depending on what action was taken.
- Compensation is usually given in these types of situations. Not always, but most of the time. Again it depends on how long and what action was taken.
Again, this is a very last resort to fixing the problem.

We experienced a serious network issue on May 8th, 2011 that has caused downtime in many of our games. We apologize for the delay in an official notice, the network issue disrupted our ability to update you quickly. We are working on resolving the issue now and need to restart all MapleStory game worlds.
