Its a great game!!! This is definetly my thing !!! Eve may have a steep learning curve but its nothing other can't teach you :) in a short while, it like any other mmorpg can get borring it not played outside the guildlines, listen to this and then tell me if you still think eve is borring: Ok i've been playing EVE for over a year now first 6-7 months or so I've done some trailing making new trail accounts time after time and transfering my stuff, mostly because I just couldend get a substibtion (multiple reasons).
about now I have EVE for 6 months with an account and i'm going rather well, have been working on the pos of our corperation (later it became partially mine ^^ ) (player owned strucure) about 2 weeks ago we had to break it up but its a great thing to do and it functions great as a low security space fallout for rathunting and deep space mining. at the moment i'm trying to get some skills togheter for a large mining barge and a stealthbomber.
also doing some 0.0 (lawless space) missions to keep me occupied, managed to make some bookmarks troughout the 0.0 passage so I can warp straight to the gates, mostly because of the pirate activity i'm close to is getting way out of hand and the local anti-pirate group (the placid defence coalition) has been having there hands full trying to keep the route clear for other players (if there not overrun themselves, 'I think i'm going to join them'), i've been using a small frigate with a stealthmodule to sneak past the pirate camps at the 0.0 borderzones alltrough I got to say its not completely flawless and a podkill comes unexpected if your not carefull. still I like the osmeden/orvolle area its a great region with some good activity. just some things I've been doing lately and to show that eve is not completely about mining/missions/hauling its far more, we might be setting up an outpost in a month or 2 alltrough its still in early plans and we are trying to gain the funds for building the spacestation parts for it.
I love EVE because of its deep going structure, its a perfect PVP game, you can do whatever you want, just keep in mind that eve is a player driven game only partially controlled by NPC's. the recent changes and the ones that are in development are going to be awesome. recently outposts have been added, capital transport ships have been added also called freighters to help build transports and boy are they big. but there nothing compared to the newly added dreadnoughts, Huge ships with guns the size of a small cruiser. these huge behamoths are meant to rain fiece thunder on huge structures like outposts and posses and can be seen as a large tank among a group of soldiers. Soon the mobile spacestations called titans will be released, acting like flightdeck ships in space these ships can act as fallback stations and can give you in my understanding a hell of a fight simmilar to the ones in battlestar gallactica with the base star and the gallactica itsself, or with an outpost. in other words its gonna be awesome, also new special ships will be released including T2 battleships, enhanced NPC pirates (RATS) that will jam you and use foul tricks on you trying to gain a better position in battle, I think this is going to make fighting npc's even more interresting, miniprofessions, and many many many more things.
And if this is not enough the game because it is player driven, develops more types of transport, earning your bread and making your game truely awesome. for example, if you think that transport is limited to jumping gates or autopiloting then your wrong even the slowest ship can move allong fast if he uses so called bookmarks, player made points in space where you can go to , this way you don't have to fly 15 km before your close enough to a gate to jump, in a fast ship 15 km is a brease but in a hauler or a mining barge this takes quite some long time. with some good bookmarks every ship can warp right next to a gate and jump in an instance.
but this still isn't without risk, I've recently heard that players that transport valuable items from 0.0 to empire space and back use dreadnaughts (HUGE warfare vessels meant for incredible dogfights and there jumpdrives to transport huge fleets of haulers and people from system to system thereby skipping large sections of low security space and 0.0, for a sertain amount of money, the recently deployed public outpost (alliance space station) deployed (station: Margannis) in 0.0 makes the area a good place to make a little rest stop and repair your ship when traveling trough 0.0. and its allready beaming with players that like to trade, repair, rest or just like to visit the outpost. eve is made by the players, it doesn't matter what things are meant to do, in WOW a horse is used for fast transport.
In eve players can chose that to do with there horse themselves, as dreadnoughts are intended for huge battles they can be used for transport, as well as mining, the ways of playing are endless. let me explain. Look beyond the basic things of EVE and you can see a world without limits, boundless ways of living your virtual life in the eve universe, the game has the best communty out there, offcourse it has people that scam, cheat and steal for a living just like in any other game, but it gives you so much more satisfaction to actually hunt down the player, scramble his warpdrives, drain his ships capacitor, and slowly rip his ship to shreds knowing the risks that if he is stronger than you thought, or he has friends to back him up to lose much more than your stolen ore. its a lot better then to run after some noob player, stab him with your OMGBBQ sword and cut off his head because your 10 times as strong.
In eve your character can be really strong and powerfull but if your not paying attention and your enemy (even if he's weaker) is onto you with the right setup a battle can take a bad turn for you. EVE does take time, you can't play the game in 2 months and be uber, but once you got your super advanced ship you can be prowd, if you insure your ship which most of the time cost about 1/3de of the ship (depending on how well you wish to insure your ship) you won't lose much.
Its not the fun of going to a high place and jumping down to your death just for the rush of flying for 20 seconds, its the rush of jumping down to a low security system, finding out that at that moment when your doing your thing, mining hunting or doing a mission, a group of pirates comes in and try's to cut you off, you flee, hide behind moons and stumble on a offline controll tower of a player owned structure, you tell your friends that you found on on the local chat system, all the pirates jump up and think wow an offline pos AWESOME, they fly off (you think HAHA DUMB BASTARDS) and you quickly make a run for the jump gate, one of the pirates see's trough your plan and right before you've reached the gate he notices you at the gate, he lock on to you, launches his cruise missiles and hits you a couple of times, your ship takes damage but you make it togheter with all the other people traped in the system, its at those moments you really know that you've done a good job, and say yourself, thats fun.
EVE is one of the greatest games in my gaming history and its getting better and better as more content and more players enter the huge universe of EVE-ONLINE.
