PSVita NEWS | Never Stop Playing

“Silent Hill Book Of Memories” Demo Coming Tomorrow For PS Vita
Konami have just announced that they’re releasing a free playable demo for Silent Hill: Books of Memories for the PS Vita, tomorrow.

“The exclusive, single-player taster of the first Silent Hill title for the Sony handheld, features the first two zones from the game and a battle against the game’s Fire Boss,” says the press release.

The demo will let players pick from one of two characters, and use a selection of weapons against a few baddies from latter stages of the full game.

NFS: Most Wanted PS Vita Version Delayed

Over to EA in Poland for a quick update on the PS Vita version of Need For Speed: Most Wanted:

“Prime Minister releases the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is scheduled for 31 October., Edition dedicated to the holders of the PlayStation Vista debut on the market in the spring of 2013, the”

I think Google Translate is having a few problems but you can get the general gist of the text: the PS Vita version of the game has been delayed.

Retailers are still listing the title for release this year so perhaps EA has made a mistake, but that’s unlikely.

Thanks to Joe for the heads up, now if you will excuse me I need to get back to Paul Hollywood and his creamy buns (Great British Bake Off!)

EDIT : Nevermind .....

Great news everyone, EA PR just emailed me and said it's a translation error, the release remains the same.

We can all relax again!

Hi Paul,

That is a mistake through translation - the vita version is out at the same time as
all the other formats.

Much like similar deals that have been offered in the past if you spend $100 in the PlayStation Store throughout the month of October you’ll receive $20 credit back. If you planned on purchasing any of those retail games that are launching on the PSN store this should prove relatively easy. At this time we can only confirm this deal for the US PlayStation Store, but check your inbox to see if they are doing it in your region as well.

LittleBigPlanet Karting Not Ruled Out For PS Vita

LittleBigPlanet-Karting-logo.jpg

A recent interview reveals that LittleBigPlanet Karting may come to the PS Vita, more details inside.......

While no firm words were given on the subject one way or another, TheSixthAxis asked the producer of LittleBigPlanet Karting, Jen Timms, if there were plans to bring the game to the PS Vita.Timms's response left the door wide open, but refused to disclose specifics:

"...it (the PS Vita)'s a logical place for it to end up but there's nothing set in stone yet… honestly, we're heads down and focussed on that (the PS3 version) right now, but like I said there are just so many more places for it to be and it would be great to see it on a handheld, so we'll just have to wait and see."

Rainbow Moon coming to PlayStation Vita

rainbow-moon-review.jpeg

EastAsiaSoft and SideQuest Studios are bringing Rainbow Moon, its July-launched PlayStation Network strategy RPG, to PlayStation Vita in 2013.

The PlayStation Vita version will “most likely be a direct port” of the PlayStation 3 version, according to EastAsiaSoft’s Nils Ngai, but will feature cross-save support with its console counterpart.

The decision to release the game on the handheld was “because of the game’s success on the PlayStation 3 and really strong user feedback.” EastAsiaSoft is working on pricing options for owners of the PlayStation 3 version, stressing while they “can’t afford to do a completely free download for all buyers of the PS3 game,” they “won’t be charging double the price” if you’re looking to buy both versions.

Thanks, IGN.

Soul Sacrifice: Inafune on Building the Ultimate PS Vita Action Game

Make no mistake, the Japanese know how to queue. In the bowels of the PlayStation stand at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, countless orderly lines of patient gamers snake neatly through a maze of white chain-link barriers, intersecting each other like the world’s most organised spaghetti junction. At the start of each queue stands an official with a whiteboard and a marker pen, methodically updating the estimated waiting time for each game. Of all the games on show at PlayStation’s booth, which boasted the longest line? PS Vita action title Soul Sacrifice, with show-goers having to wait well over an hour for a chance to try it out.

8007430410_d4e0b27ced_z.jpg

It should perhaps come as no surprise that it’s the center of attention. After a series of intriguing trailers, TGS presented the first opportunity to actually go hands-on with Mega Man creator and former Capcom R&D chief Keiji Inafune’s dark fantasy action title.
Those first few teasers hinted at a gritty blend of Dark Souls’ ruthless, bleak aesthetic, and the multiplayer-focused beast battling of Monster Hunter. In reality, that’s not far off the mark. You play as a member of a four-person squad (controlled either by other players or the computer) tasked with progressing through various environments in search of a huge boss character to dispatch.
The twist is that when a squad member falls, the survivors have the option to either sacrifice them in return for a huge power-up, or revive the player and allow them back into the fray. The same mechanic also applies to fallen enemies – sacrifice them and your offensive attributes receive a boost, spare them and your defensive stats ramp up.
It’s a compelling set-up and the brief 15 minute segment I played through offered some pleasingly physical combat, run through with complex, strategic decision-making and delightfully gruesome enemy design. In search of a little more insight into how the full game will play out, I grabbed 10 minutes with Inafune-san backstage. Check out the brand new gameplay trailer below, then read on for more from the man himself.

8007430496_e2b619659c_n.jpg

PlayStation.Blog: Why do you see the PS Vita as such a good fit for a deep, dark action title like Soul Sacrifice?

Keiji Inafune, Creator, Soul Sacrifice: The idea is to have a game that Western audiences will find appealing, while also making sure that it will also sell well here in Japan. The Western audience must feel willing to play this game. PS Vita is not going to benefit if you just have a lot of otaku games on it – you need something like this. It needs dark and deep titles like Soul Sacrifice.

PSB: How have you approached the game’s multiplayer component?

Inafune: Soul Sacrifice is intended for the player to really sit down and engage with it, and actually have other people in front of you for the multiplayer with ad hoc as the base. If you can’t gather people physically, you can play online of course, but I think it’s most interesting when you play with your closest friends as you really know about them and it might prove harder to sometimes sacrifice them.
I think the most fun in the game comes from playing on both your real and virtual relationships. For example, if you have a friend that’s always hounding you and makes you feel bad the whole time you’ll surely feel like you’re going to sacrifice them! That type of play is what the game is all about.

PSB: If you could step into a time machine and show Soul Sacrifice to the young Keiji Inafune making Mega Man back in 1986, what do you think he would he make of it?

Inafune: 25 years ago, I don’t think I would have appreciated how interesting this type of game could be. I probably would have thought that it was grotesque because I wasn’t really aware of Western games. Back then I was really only thinking about myself and trying to make things that I personally thought were interesting. That consumed me 25 years ago.
So, if I was to be exposed to a game of the future 25 years ago I think I would’ve started earlier at trying to be aware of Western audiences. If that were true I think I would have been even more successful and have a lot more money!

PSB: You’ve announced a number of big projects since you stepped down from Capcom back in 2010. What inspires you to keep on creating at this stage in your career?

Inafune: First and foremost, it’s fun. I’m having fun. Other than that, that potential was always there when I was at Capcom but because it was a huge organization there were limitations and constraints that pulled me back. I had energy – this bulging creative impulse – but I was unable to realise that as much as I wanted to. Now, because I am free and independent, I just think I should try and get everything out there that I want to get out there.
So, yes, I am busy but I’m also having fun and enjoying it. I have more energy than I did when I was at Capcom. I’ve already announced many things, but I hope to continue to announce many more things in the future, so I hope you’ll be taken by surprise.

SONY bất ngờ vì có quá ít hãng thứ 3 làm game cho PS Vita

original.jpg

Why is the PlayStation Vita floundering? One reason is that people just weren't interested in developing games for it. At least that's what Sony boss Shuhei Yoshida believes.

"Một điều làm chúng tối bất ngờ và có phần thất vọng chính là [số lượng ít ỏi] các hãng thứ 3 đứng ra [hỗ trợ] sau khi PS Vita ra mắt." Ngài Yoshida chia sẻ với Gamasurea trong bài phỏng vấn hôm nay.

...In retrospect, there are so many options for publishers now that we cannot take it for granted that our new platform would be supported by third parties, like [it would've been] many years ago."

We think it's fair to say that the PlayStation Vita has not been a runaway success. And it seems that Sony agrees with us. However, it won't be dropping the price of the handheld console in the run up to Christmas, believing that its new line-up of titles will make the device attractive enough.

That's not to say that the PS Vita won't see a drop in its retail price eventually, with the company claiming that its traditional strategy is to lower the cost of its hardware after a period of time, but this year it will be looking to "add value" in time for the holiday season.

Speaking to Eurogamer at the site's recent Expo in London, Fergal Gara, SCE's UK vice president and managing director, admitted that the console hasn't exactly set the world alight, but there are some strong games on their way.

"I'd say it's done reasonably well, but I'm a sales guy and motivated by selling, so I'm never going to say we've done well enough," he said.

"What's important is we've got great software now as we face into peak. We've seen it time and time again on Sony platforms and others' platforms: when you've got great software you can give it a great push.

"We've seen people hovering around LittleBigPlanet and Assassin's Creed: Liberation here at the Expo. It's a great example it's got every potential to do very well for the peak."

He also told the gaming site that the focus for the PS Vita this Christmas will be in bundling quality games with the device.

"Even this week there are some tremendously attractive bundles out there. For example, Wi-Fi Vita plus LittleBigPlanet at the £200 price point. There's the Wi-Fi product again plus FIFA 13 plus Uncharted Golden Abyss plus LittleBigPlanet at not much above the £200 price point."

However, that doesn't mean there won't be a price cut in the new year. When asked by Eurogamer whether a price will have to wait "until next year", Gara said, "Yes."

PS+Vita.jpg

Sony Exec John Koller confirms how long they intend to support the PS Vita, more details inside..........
On the topic of PS Vita life cycles John Coller had this to say:
“We’re in year one, so we’ll be supporting it for some time. But yeah, it does have its own 10-year life cycle. All of our platforms do… it’s a marathon, not a sprint. We expect long-term success from all our platforms.”
